King Tut became pharaoh at age 9 and died at age 19. He was buried with gold. Hatshepsut became the first female pharaoh after her husband died and ruled Egypt successfully until her death, after which Thutmose III destroyed all monuments of her. In ancient Egypt, the pharaoh was believed to be divine, had total power, women managed households, and men farmed, worked for the government, or were slaves.
