The purpose of this article is to inform residents about the UAE National day, as the day
when the UAE garnered independence from the British and to celebrate the UAE’s
National day. This is clearly explicit as the headline of the article is “Happy Birthday
UAE”. The article is also showcases residents of the UAE and Emirates, who have lived in
Dubai for over 20 years and who have successfully contributed to the UAE’s economy,
share their opinions about the importance of UAE national day as well as the impact it
has had on them and their families. The important thing is that this article does this
article convey genuine information about UAE National day, but merely the perspective
and love from its nationals and others, which would draw an audience in.
The UAE residents would be the main readers of this article. They will engage with this
article because of the personal insight delivered from the To my understanding, a
personal insight often allows readers to connect with the article because of the
similarities they might have or the interest in learning the local traditions that are
celebrated in the UAE during National day. A response coming from the average day UAE
citizen would allow a reader to relate to the article. UAE citizens would read these
articles with pride and celebration, as anyone would celebrate their Independence days
or National days, such as how people celebrate in the United States of America on the
fourth of July. Residents and foreigners would also relate to this article because they
could find it more informing and cultural. They would find out how UAE National day is
celebrated and what it means to the families of locals.
The images work with the article since this article is based on the responses of people in
the UAE; the images featured are local Emiratis who wear traditional Emirati clothes that
is accustomed to their nature, culture and religion. One of the Emirati’s who answered
the questions are wearing plain and western clothing, this could perhaps show how the
UAE accepts diversity within the nation. There is also an image of the UAE flag that
2. establishes the fact that it is UAE day and to store pride within the nationals of this
nation. The images work well with the article because it represents the UAE by its flag,
the national clothing and the diversity.
The mode of address that is being used is formal; the article basically features opinions
and information on Emiratis and UAE residents, who deliver their opinions about UAE
National day. The formality of this article is established through the use of quotation
marks for all the opinions stated by these people. The language in their opinions is
formal, as it does not contain any use of slang words. The tone is very personal because
the people featured talk about their feelings of UAE national day and they discuss what it
means to their families.
If I were to produce this article, I would include information about UAE National day to
inform residents (from all over the world) and perhaps, tourists about why UAE National
day is celebrated and what it means to this Nation’s leaders. I would include pictures
that feature some of the activities that the UAE takes part in during National day
celebrations and I would give information on it for the people who also want to celebrate
National day. I would add more insight from more people representing different nations,
who reside in the UAE, to speak about what the UAE means to them.
There is not that many buzzwords utilized in this double-page spread and there is barely
indication as to what the buzzwords are. The Only buzzwords that are utilised are
references to the UAE (as the article is about UAE National day so they would have to
make it stand out for reader awareness) and the buzzwords are used in the names of all
the interviewees for information purposes again.
