This document discusses governmental and non-governmental organizations that promote science education in India. 2. INTRODUCTION
The science playsa crucial role in the modern
society .The science popularization isan attempt to reduce
the distance standing between science specialists and the
public. Science popularizationisa programme that takes the
science for making them aware about efforts, achievements
and advances of science. Such programme include e-book ,e-
journal,e-conference,seminarsetc. The primary objectiveof
of the popularizationof the science is to increase the public
understandingof science.
Governments in many countries directly supports
scientific research. There are many organizationswhich help
to promote the science are science talent search programme,
sastraposhini scheme ,kyvp and science olympaid.This
programmes aims to extend helping hand to deserving
students to carry on their academic pursuits as well as
motivating talented students.
NATONAL SCIENCE TALENT SEARCH PROGRAMME
Nationaltalentexaminationis a nationallevel
scholarship programme in indiato identify and recognize
students with high intellectualand academic talents.It is one
of the most prestigious exam in india.close to 1500,000
appearin this exam every yearand 1000 scholarships are
awarded. The scheme is open to students of Indian
nationality.students studying in class 10 are eligible for the
selection process .It is organized by NCERT.

3. The states and unionterritories in the country 350
scholarship for the students of class +1 .These scholarships
are awarded for the basis of written examination,interview
and project report . The written examinationcompromised
the science aptitude test and essay on a given scientific
theme. The candidateswere submitted project at the time of
written examination.A number of candidates selected on
the basis of those three components, then subjected to
personal interviews .The performance of candidateson those
four components are eligiblefor awarding scholarships .The
scholarshipswere awarded for educationonly in basic
sciences up to doctorate level. It was no longer confinedto
only basic sciences but was extended to social science
,engineering and medicines as well. It was renamed as
nationaltalentsearch scheme .Since the educationalsystem
in indiawas undergoing a change , the scheme was made
open to the students of class 10 +1 +2 . And separate
examinationswere conducted for each class. The number of
scholarships was raised to 500 .The selection procedure was
also changed . Now the candidateswere subjected to two
tests .Objective type written test namely the mental ability
test [MAT] and Scholastic test [SAT].Number of students
qualifyingthese two test were subjected to a face –face
interview. The final awards were made on the basis of
component scores obtained by the MAT ,SAT ,and the
INTERVIEW.The MAT consists of 100 multiplechoice

4. questionswas to be attend by all the candidates.the SAT
consist of 25 multiple choice questions .
SASTRAPOSHINI SCHEME
Sastra poshininiis a scheme plannedby the kerala state
council for science educationamong the high school of the
state. This programme plansstrenghthening of high schools
science laboratories of the state and an effective interaction
between the teacher and students.Thisplannedto be
launchedby the council associationwith state educational
department during the pilot programme of 2 yeares. One
model laboratory each in physics , chemistry and biology will
be set up in one school in each educationaldistrict of the
state .
CONCLUSION
Science is an systematic enterprise that builds
and organizes knowledge in the form of explanationsand
predictionsabout the universe. Nationaltalent search
programme aims to extent helping handsto deserving
students by awarding scholarship to promote learning and
enrichment of knowledge .Sastraposhinischeme
strengthening of the high school laboratories of state .The
important of science inourdaily lives may not be obvious
,yet we make science based choices everyday.
