High performance setup
Part of the ALSPA product line,
the ControGen HX belongs to the
automatic voltage regulator (AVR)
family used on heavy machine control
equipment. It is designed to manage
all types of excitation systems (static,
brushless, AC&DC exciters) and can
be applied to any power generation
application (steam, nuclear, hydraulic,
diesel and gas), from small units to
large production machines requiring
complex controls.
High performance
ALSPA ControGen HX offers a large
selection of advanced functions to
improve the performance of the entire
system (conventional PSS2A/2B,
advanced adaptive PSS, secondary voltage
regulation capabilities..). Taking advantage
of our emulation capacities to simulate the
overall working conditions of the power
plant, ALSPA ControGen HX can be set to
reach the most accurate performances.
Enhanced reliability
The scalable redundancy of the
controllers, power supplies, pulse
generating devices, and power bridges
makes the system tolerant to internal or
external failures and ensures continuous
operation under all circumstances.
Wide open
ALSPA ControGen HX is designed to
communicate with a large range of
distributed control systems (DCS) as well
as dedicated operator stations and local
operator terminals.
ALSPA ControGen HX is fully integrated
in the ALSPA family and can be easily
integrated with all ALSPA plant
automation solutions as part of the
GE Plant Integrator™
concept.
ALSPA ControGen HX is part of the GE
excitation systems family. It is designed
to control medium and large generators.
The ALSPA ControGen HX takes
advantage from over 45 years of know-
how and proven experience in design and
manufacturing of excitation systems.

Adaptive PSS
Integration of a huge amount of volatile
renewables (solar photovoltaic, wind)
in power networks is becoming a great
challenge for grid operators and has
an important impact in the working
conditions of the conventional installed
base. Also, power system operation is
characterized by a wide range of operating
conditions, random load changes and
various unpredictable disturbances.
Conventional PSS are designed to have
fixed parameters derived from a linearized
model around a certain operating point
and thus cannot address important
changes in the network. GE’s adaptive
PSS tracks those network changes and
adapts the PSS parameters accordingly.
Whenever the network is changing,
GE adaptive PSS is efficient.
