Also is common in speech and writing. We usually place it:
a) between the subject of the sentence and the simple verb;
b) after is, are, was, were;
c) after auxiliary verbs such as will ,can, etc.
The candidate was fluent in English. Moreover/What’s more/Furthermore, he speaks
German and French.
We use Moreover/Furthermore when two equally important facts are given; rather formal.
What’s more is used to add something surprising or interesting to what you have just said.

In addition (to) often comes in a list of actions; rather formal or factual in tone.
I don’t want the job. It would mean too much traveling. Besides, the salary is too low.
Besides is often used when we list different reasons; more common in speech than in writing.
