Sam Williams, a former NBA player who now serves on the NBA retired players committee, teamed up with Martha Icaza from Nicaragua to bring Nicaraguan cigars to their community in California. They planned an elite black tie event during the 2018 NBA All-Star weekend to showcase Nicaraguan culture and cigars. The event would be held on the back lot of Warner Brothers Studios, transformed to look like Nicaragua and hosted by NBA legends. It aimed to promote Nicaraguan brands to celebrities and raise awareness of the country, which has faced crises but achievements through its people's endurance. Select sponsors could increase their brand through marketing at the luxury event.
