The Biggest Internet of Things Milestones NeuraInc
The future of Internet of Things is here to make our lives as seamless, as de-cluttered as machine-ly possible. We at Neura take you back in time and give you a little history around the much-talked-about Internet of Things.
Back in 1999, Kevin Ashton, cofounder of Auto-ID Center at MIT, first coined the phrase “Internet of Things” in his presentation about Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) at PG&E. Fast-forward 16 years and you’ll see the impact interconnectivity of devices has on our lives.
Google Glass and the Future of Wearable ComputingAmber Case
Google will release a wearable heads up display this fall, and it may help to usher in a new era of augmented reality and wearable computing. What does this mean for us as designers and developers? How do we build for the next generation of computers? Who was here before us, and how can we learn from them?
From it’s birthplace at MIT and PARC research, the field of wearable computing has focused on augmenting the human ability to compute freely. As pioneer Steve Mann and calm technology pioneer Mark Weiser wanted, “to free the human to not act as a machine”. Mann didn’t like the idea of crouching over a desktop computer. He instead felt that the computer should contort to the human naturally, so he began his own wearable computing mission.
This talk will focus on trends in wearable computing starting from the 1970’s-2010’s. I’ll cover various HUDs (heads up displays), new tech from Motorola, Google, various invasive and non-invasive tech and how mobile interfaces should take advantage of location, proximity and haptics to help improve our lives instead of get in the way. These are the machines that will be a part of our lives in only a few years from now, and the best way to learn about the future is to dig into the past.

Building for the Internet of Things: Hardware, Sensors & the CloudNick Landry
Connected, smart devices have become pervasive. These "Things" already outnumber more traditional computing devices and are set to surpass the 100 billion devices mark within a few short years. The Internet of Things (IoT) extends your reach as a software developer into the world of diverse hardware devices controlled by your code, and powered by the cloud. In this session we’ll explore the “Maker” or “Things” side of IoT with hardware boards like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Netduino, Intel Edison and others, and the various sensors and shields you can use to measure temperatures, capture user input via buttons, display data on micro displays and more fun electronic stuff. We’ll build our first simple electronic circuits using LEDs and push buttons, and then write embedded code to augment that circuit by deploying & running it on various microcontroller boards.
Next, this session extends the reach of your hardware projects by connecting your “things” to the cloud, thus fulfilling the promise of the “Internet of Things”. You'll learn about many of the options available to plug devices into connected intelligent systems, including Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and other custom wireless options. We’ll explore how sensor data from hardware devices from the field can be collected and routed through gateways using Machine-to-Machine (M2M) messaging, and stored in the cloud, where it can be consumed in real-time data visualization dashboards.
The Internet of Things is full of opportunities for developers and this session is your best starting point to understand the big picture, and the possibilities. Don’t fret if you’ve never done anything with hardware or electronics, this session will give you the guidance you need to get started.
Video: http://vimeo.com/105851449
This all content is about how does IOT involve in our life's and what is the history of it and what is the competencies or layers of IOT and where we are using IOT.
At any given moment it is easy to look back to see how technology has changed over time. At the same time it is difficult to see what transformations are taking place in current moment, and even more difficult to see where things are going.
We will explore what technology is. For us it may be the latest tech stuff we see, something new. But what about everyday objects that we take for granted. Are those not technologies also?
How does technology evolve and where did it come from? We look at some ideas on evolution of technology and how it is similar to biology in some ways. We will also look at the origin of the word technology. Finally we will define the term we will use in the course. Terms defined are technology, product performance, and innovation to name few.
This presentation was prepared to support IoT developments for post-graduation students @ IT and Telco Strategic Management. It aims to get an overview on what IoT is, its technology and market innovative applications

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

RMD24 | Debunking the non-endemic revenue myth Marvin Vacquier Droop | First ...BBPMedia1
