Alexander Graham Bell was born on March 3, 1847 in Edinburgh, Scotland to a mother and wife who were both deaf. He did not have a middle name until he turned 11 when his father gave it to him as a birthday present. When Bell was 23 years old, he and his parents moved to Canada.
