The house of the spirits by Isabel Allende tells the story of a family over 50 years based on journals from the perspective of the author's grandmother. The book was challenged in 1999 at a California high school for allegedly defaming the Catholic faith and containing pornographic passages. While pornographic content may warrant banning, literature should not be censored simply for challenging or defaming certain groups.
