NAME: __Alana Buenrostro_____________________
OFFICER POSITION: __Chair______________________________
(you are applying for)
YEAR @ SU: __Junior_____________
Length of UPC Membership: ___5 semesters___________________________
Contributions to UPC:
(e.g. chairing an event, serving on committees, positions held, awards)

I chaired Jen Kober, BREAK and Javier Mendoza. For one semester, I was a member of
the Sound Team, and the End of the Year Party Committee. I have been awarded
Member of the Week and Member of the Year. My Junior year in UPC was spent as an
Executive Council member Secretary. I have also served as point person for numerous
events. I also represented UPC at the 2009 Hatton W. Sumners Leadership Conference at
the LBJ School of Ethical Leadership. I also served as one of two hospitality chairs for
Large Act 2010. I have also been in charge of initiating Fall and Spring Event Proposal
drives.

1.) Why are you applying for your position:

I am applying for the Chair position because it represents the leader of the organization
that welcomed me and pushed me to be the leader I find myself being today. I want to
extend those skills into the UPC Chair Position. I want to share the knowledge, skills and
discipline I have gained as a UPC member. I want to help maintain and prosper the UPC
organization run under the great leadership of Hector Ruiz.

2.) What are your strengths as a leader, and in general?

My strength as a leader is my neutrality. I am good at managing conflicts or variance in
opinion especially within decision making. I also believe that I am a very disciplined and
serious person that takes on any opportunity with sincerity and honesty. These qualities
are beneficial to being a leader within an organization. What’s even cooler, is that I can
contribute all of these qualities with a dash of humor that keeps situations light and fun.

3.) What do you think your greatest contribution to UPC has been?

My greatest contribution to UPC has been the accountability and discipline that I have
given to the organization, whether through twice a week minutes, or as a point person or
EC member. I also feel as if I, along with the rest of EC and general council have helped
create a great year for UPC, the best I have witnessed since my first semester in UPC.
4.) What can you contribute to UPC and the Executive Council if you are elected?

What I can contribute to UPC and the Executive Council if I am elected, is a genuine
love, happiness, and cheer that fuels me because of this great organization! I want to
promote that cheer filled with discipline and hard work to the organization. After all, if
we are having fun while working together as an organization, then it doesn’t feel much
like work, does it?

5.) Do you have any ideas for UPC in the upcoming year?

In the past I have suggested forming a voluntary UPC intramural team/teams to help
promote unity within the organization. I also think that it would be fun to have small
UPC dance parties immediately following sound set-up that will get us pumped and raise
spirits for FNL events =D !
