This document discusses various aspects of pre-cruise, cruise, and post-cruise experiences. It covers pre-cruise packages that include airfare and transfers, the advantages for clients and agents. Travel insurance options are described, as well as common cruise itinerary types. During the cruise, passengers can purchase shore excursions through the cruise line or independently in ports. Excursion categories and purchasing methods are outlined. Post-cruise packages mirror pre-cruise options. The document also discusses tailoring experiences based on passenger types like families, couples, singles, teens, kids, and seniors.
This document provides information for a fall break trip to Paris and Rome, including payment deadlines, passport requirements, packing tips, recommended spending money, travel money options, optional excursions, phone options, tip amounts, airport transportation details, and contact information. It outlines logistical details to prepare participants for the trip and addresses common issues like finances, documents, luggage, communication, and transportation.
Universal Mind LAB - Frictionless TravelJoe Johnston
The document proposes two tactical visions - Hands-Free Baggage and AIR Concierge - to improve the airport travel experience and reduce friction. Hands-Free Baggage would allow travelers to check-in and track baggage without interacting directly, and could deliver baggage to the destination. AIR Concierge would be a connected platform and virtual assistant to provide contextual travel information, wayfinding, food/retail ordering, and flight updates to travelers via their devices. Both concepts aim to modernize the customer experience and generate additional revenue opportunities for airlines and airports.
The document lists various types of holidays and vacations people can take including adventure breaks, winter holidays, camping holidays, summer holidays, sightseeing vacations, hiking holidays, ecotourism experiences, beach vacations, safaris, shopping holidays, cultural breaks, weekend holidays, and extreme sports holidays. It also mentions related travel terms and items needed for trips like luggage, airport procedures, flights, travel agencies, tickets, and camping gear.
This document discusses two species of parrots, the scarlet macaw and the blue-and-yellow macaw. Both species are large, colorful parrots found in Central and South America. While their natural habitats have declined due to human activities like deforestation, some conservation efforts aim to protect the parrots and their environments.
Modobag is a motorized luggage that can travel up to 20 miles on a single charge while carrying up to 260 pounds. It has two USB ports to charge devices and its battery charges to 80% within 15 minutes. Weighing only 19 pounds, the internal mechanics take up only 20% of the packing space, leaving 80% available for luggage. It can reach speeds of 5 miles per hour inside and 8 miles per hour outside.
1) The document discusses objectives for WP3 of the PASSME project, which aims to reduce the effect of luggage handling on passenger journey times to zero and improve the passenger experience.
2) It focuses on different types of luggage including hold luggage, hand luggage, tax free luggage, and odd-size luggage.
3) The luggage journey is mapped out from home to departure airport through boarding and from deplaning to final destination, noting passenger waiting times, processes, and uncertainties at each stage.

Baggage handling in Airports (sortation)cidroypaes
A baggage handling system (BHS) is a type of conveyor system installed in airports that transports checked luggage from ticket counters to areas where the bags can be loaded onto airplanes. A BHS also transports checked baggage coming from airplanes to baggage claims or to an area where the bag can be loaded onto another airplane.
Although the primary function of a BHS is the transportation of bags, a typical BHS will serve other functions involved in making sure that a bag gets to the correct location in the airport. The process of identifying a bag, and the information associated with it, to make a decision on where the bag should be directed within the system is known as sortation.
The document proposes and describes a sorting cart system to help passengers organize their belongings before going through airport security. The sorting cart would allow passengers to sort items while waiting in line. Passengers would receive an empty cart, sort belongings into it, and flatten the cart during security screening. After screening, passengers would return the carts to a designated area. However, the document also notes that folding and organizing the carts could slow down the security process and may not be suitable for all passengers such as elderly travelers.
To get through an airport, there are several key steps. First, purchase your flight ticket online in advance. Then, gather the necessary identification documents like a passport or driver's license. Ensure your luggage meets airline size and weight requirements. Upon arriving at the airport, check-in, go through security screening, and find your gate. Finally, once you land, collect your checked baggage at the baggage claim area.
This document provides information on various aviation-related topics including:
- Geographic regions divided into IATA traffic conference areas
- Definitions of revenue and non-revenue passengers
- Explanations of fares, baggage allowances, excess baggage charges, and types of journeys such as one-way, return, circle trips and open jaws
- Descriptions of checked and unchecked baggage
- Notes on fare types including adult, child, and infant fares as well as normal, special and constructed fares
The annual dealers meet will take place in July 2017 with the theme "CONNECT". The objective is to celebrate success, reward excellence, and motivate partners. The event concept will incorporate the theme by taking guests through an experience of a flight from takeoff to landing. Elements will include teaser invites, airport check-in, an in-flight experience with announcements and entertainment, and a landing. The agenda includes management sessions, panel discussions, product launches, awards, and entertainment. An emcee will help bring the flight theme to life through their announcements and introductions.
1) The webinar covered topics related to planning air travel for people with disabilities including checking in, going through security, assistance at the gate and on the aircraft.
2) It noted that over 54 million people with disabilities travel by air each year and highlighted the various airline personnel that may assist passengers with disabilities throughout their journey.
3) The webinar emphasized that passengers with disabilities are the experts on their own needs and that airlines should listen to and follow their directions in order to properly accommodate them.
1. The traveler arrived at the airport and checked in, receiving their boarding pass after luggage was weighed.
2. They passed through customs, which involved walking through scanners and removing shoes and belts.
3. The flight was delayed by an hour, so the traveler got coffee and cake in the departure lounge while checking the flight information board for updates.
4. They exchanged currency before shopping in the duty-free store to buy neck pillows, and later had a drink in the sports bar.
5. When it was time to board, they felt nervous but excited while walking down the airbridge to the plane.
The document discusses baggage handling systems at airports. It describes how baggage handling systems transport checked luggage from ticket counters to airplanes and from airplanes to baggage claims. The systems perform functions like bag detection, volume regulation, load balancing, bag counting, tracking, and redirection. They have three main jobs - moving bags from check-in to departure gates, between gates during transfers, and from arrival gates to baggage claims. The document also outlines the basic processes that bags go through and how the systems work to sort bags to their proper destinations.
The document outlines a process for airport passenger security screening. Passengers receive a cart to sort their belongings in line before security. At security, passengers flatten the cart so items do not overlap as they pass through screening. After screening, passengers proceed to their gate. Sorting items in the cart ahead of time and flattening the cart for screening is intended to avoid tedious sorting at the screening checkpoint and make better use of waiting time.
Passenger journey example
To understand travellers, designers of the ICS combine properties of passengers with infrastructure and environments, they move through, together with tasks to be completed along their path. This produces understanding of the travellers needs in terms of language, understanding of concepts, stress, and more, and allows to establish which, where and when information is needed, and by which means it should be provided. Apart from this, user interaction concepts can be explored through a passenger journey, as this presentation illustrates.
You will see various steps of a passenger journey, appearing needs, encounters with different environments, all having consequences in terms of interaction on an ICS mobile app.

The document discusses various airport handling procedures including reservation counters, check-in counters, baggage make up areas, boarding gates, and ramp areas. It provides details on the functions of reservation counters such as ticket purchases, cancellations, and requests. Check-in counters are where passengers check baggage and receive boarding passes. Baggage make up areas sort checked bags by flight and load them onto trolleys for aircraft. Boarding gates are where passengers board planes and announcements are made. Ramp areas involve aircraft movement, parking, and baggage loading.
Baggage refers to the bags, cases, and containers that hold a traveler's personal items while in transit. Most commercial transportation, like airlines, allow passengers a certain free baggage allowance, with limits on weight or number of checked bags. Any baggage exceeding the free allowance is subject to excess baggage charges. Checked baggage is labeled and transported in the aircraft hold, while carry-on or unchecked baggage remains with the passenger. Airlines have specific policies for baggage allowances, tags, and fees for overweight or extra baggage.
10 common mistakes that first-time travelers make include: 1) forgetting to book a specific seat on the plane, 2) packing too much luggage, and 3) not checking carry-on bag size restrictions. Other mistakes are 4) packing liquids over the 3.4 ounce limit in carry-ons, 5) having an expired passport, and 6) not double checking your travel itinerary details. Travelers should also 7) be prepared when risking getting lost, 8) check their phone plans for international use, 9) not exchange too much local currency before traveling, and 10) forget to notify their bank of international travel plans.

8. STEP 1: STATUS QUO
What does the current baggage experience look
like?
9.
10. THE REAL ISSUE:
There are two independently
moving bodies that are
inconvenient to travel together,
yet need to arrive at a final
destination at the same time in
the same place.
11. TWO MOVING BODIES:
Could we incentivize passengers to take their
bags through the airport and check plane side?
Would they choose that option on its own for a
discount?
How would we know passengers have retrieved
their bags?
12. TWO MOVING BODIES:
Could we incentivize passengers to take their
bags through the airport and check plane side?
Would they choose that option on its own for a
discount?
How would we know passengers have retrieved
their bags?
Could we create a customized/programmable
luggage tag for passengers to boop?
13. INCONVENIENCE OF TRAVEL:
Could we incentivize passengers to take their
bags through the airport and check plane side?
Everything goes through screening anyway.
Elderly and disabled people can’t navigate
airports well even with no bags.
Hypothesis: giving passengers the option to
check and retrieve all bags plane side can reduce
the load on baggage infrastructure.
14. ARRIVAL AND FINAL CONTACT:
We all get stuck in queue bunched together at the
same baggage carousel and fighting over each
other to grab bags that may/not even be ours.
It sucks to see 12 baggage carousels and not
have any flexibility about where they go. This
creates congestion and delays.
Can my bag show up at the most convenient
place for me to snag it and exit the airport as
quickly as possible?
18. #Goals
Reunite the passenger with their bag as efficiently as
possible.
#realGoalsIRL
Reunite the passenger with their stuff and get them
out of the airport as quickly as possible.
19. NEW EXPERIENCE:
Could you choose your drop-off point? Or have an
algorithm choose the best one for you based on
your bag check preferences and security queue
lengths?
Could your baggage assist you by arriving to a
less traffic-laden part of the airport terminal? If
we can track your bag individually, can we group
it with others into smaller chunks to divide up the
load on the system and make it easier on
everyone?
21. #chokepoints
The worst parts of
people arrival are
single file lines.
Bags are worse
because they’re
single file and
100% dependent–
they don’t move
until they’re all
together.
22. BREAKING IT DOWN
Planes could be loaded on
carts or pallets that are
planned at the origin point so
that bags don’t have to be
unloaded one by one.
So long as passengers are
notified of where their bags
are, they can get there.*
* this is somewhat bullshit depending on airport
wayfinding design, but could we ALSO guide travelers
through the airport?
23.
24.
25. #wireframes
Passenger alerted to bag’s final
location
Passenger enters destination Checked bags required to
reserve spot in queue
Passenger is guided to baggage
claim
26. #wireframes
Passenger notified that bag is
ready for pickup
Camera ready to scan for
passenger’s bag tag
Bag confirms with passenger,
spot in queue reserved
Car called, passenger is guided
to meeting point for Uber
27. GETTING THE ORDER RIGHT
Screens with notifications are going to be the most
important to conveying how the system works. The
alerting system will need to be delicate so that users
don’t get overwhelmed.
One goal is to use the waiting time we can’t control as
an opportunity to get the user more excited about the
service and laying the groundwork for a quicker
perceived airport exit.
29. #Goals
Reunite the passenger with their bag as efficiently as
possible.
#realGoalsIRL
Reunite the passenger with their stuff and get them
out of the airport as quickly as possible.
30. BENEFITS:
Passengers receive options for baggage check services
Passengers can be alerted to ensure bags are on the plane
Passengers pre-plan their rideshare trip while waiting to deplane
Passengers are not siphoned together from crowded space to crowded space to
crowded space
Passengers receive more automated service, so algorithms can get smarter
