3.  Nature of food (prakruti)- Hot or cold food, easy to digest or heavy to digest
 Method of processing food (karana)- cleaning with water, heating, boiling, grinding
 Combining two or more substances (samyog)- it can be beneficial or non beneficial to
the body.
 Quantity of food (rashi)- quantity of food that should be taken is different for different
person.
 Place (desha)- Place where food is cultivated & place of person who is consuming that
food.
 Time of consumption of food (kala)- One should give utmost priority to the time of
consumption of food.
 Rules & regulation of eating food (upyog sanstha)- Eat food after feeling hungry,
consume wholesome food, do not eat in hurry or too slowly, eat with concentration &
without laughing or talking.
 Person who is eating food(upyokta)- fresh and happy mind

4.  Unique concept described in ayurved
 Diet which disturbs balance of body and mind.
 Viruddha means ‘opposite’ and ahara means ‘diet’.
 Diet or combination that hampers metabolism of tissue & have opposite property of
tissue.
 Wrong combination food
 Wrong processing, incorrect time of day, wrong season, incorrect dose.

8.  Eat freshly made, hot & homemade food
 Eat when you feel hungry & when previous meal is digested.

 Do not consume raw or heavy food items after sunset. Try to finish dinner before
sunset.
 Ayurved measures goodness of food in terms of rasa (tastes). One meal should be
inclusive of all 6 tastes i.e., sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter & astringent.
 Meal should be inclusive of roti, sabji, dal, rice, ghee, lemon, homemade pickle &
chutney, koshimbir (salad)

9.  Do not count & eat. Your body will tell you how much you need & how much you
should consume.
 Keep your mind fresh while having meal.
 Don’t condemn food.
 Do not watch tv, mobile, listening to music while eating.
 Eat “lunch” like a king.
 Have sweet things at the start of the meal, astringent at the end.
