10 May 2021. Regenerative Agriculture vs. Agroecology: nomenclature hype or principle divergence?
(a) A decade of CSA: what are the achievements, the challenges and the bottlenecks? (b) What practical implications for smallholder farmers, agriculture and the environment?
Presentation by : Ken Giller Professor of Plant Production Systems – Wageningen University & Research.
Seed is the basic and most vital input of agriculture and food security. The seed industry is the cornerstone of global food security; food security depends on seed securityBut seed industries are facing a basket of emerging problems has narrowed down the smooth pursuance of enhanced productivity and quality. Among these, the burning issue of climate change and its possible consequences on agricultural production has received importance late, but the problem is very real. So, Climate change presents a profound challenge to food security and development.
Crop Microclimate Modification to Address Climate ChangeUditDebangshi
Climate-related agricultural vulnerabilities, as
well as their implications for food security and
farm livelihoods, have been extensively
documented. Extreme weather events such as
floods, droughts, heat and cold waves,
hailstorms, strong winds, cyclones, and other
weather events have increased the exposures of
agriculture to climate risk. These processes are
hampered by a lack of appropriate climatic
elements, resulting in an unfavourable drop in
crop productivity. Increased frequency and
intensity of droughts and floods, as well as
erratic precipitation patterns are predicted to
increase year-to-year yield variability in crop
production. Microclimate, which refers to the
climatic elements in the immediate vicinity of
the plants, is critical because it regulates and
affects the physiological reactions of the plants
as well as the energy exchange activities
between the plant and its surroundings.
Implementation of such microclimatic
modifications in crop production are required to
manage extreme weather risks and boost crop
output in order to increase food security and
agricultural sustainability in this changing
climate. The goal of this paper is to improve
crop production and land productivity by
modifying microclimate as a manifestation of
the efficiency and effectiveness of growth factor
utilisation.
In India, agriculture is one of the major application areas of the remote sensing technology. Various national level agricultural applications have been developed which showcases the use of remote sensing data provided by the sensors/satellites launched by the country’s space agency, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)

Soybean is an important cash crop in Southern Africa
Demand is driven by the growing poultry industry
Productivity of soybean is <1 t/ha due to low adoption of improved varieties and agronomic practices
Low adoption is due to limited availability and affordability of seed of improved varieties

Nigeria Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Program-1:Sorghum Outreach...ICRISAT
Agriculture is the economic mainstay of the majority of households in Nigeria. However, agricultural productivity for food and its contributions to national income has been on the decline in the last 3 decades. Nigeria is currently one of the four leading food importing countries in the world. The high rate of poverty, food insecurity and youth unemployment in Nigeria presents an opportunity for agriculture led economic growth which can secure a prosperous future for some of the country’s poorest people. The opportunities that are inherent in the agricultural sector prompted the Government of Nigeria (GON) to initiate the Agricultural Transformation Agenda (ATA) in 2012.
In this ppt some points are highlighted regarding how agriculture plays an important role in economic sector . what are the types of challenges faced by the farmers
