Thank you!
We’re the founders of wetransform and we make standards agile, fast and fun.
The Future Cloud has a Problem - and it’s related to its success. Cloud systems are increasingly distributed and use complex data structures and APIs. These connections require shared specifications and standards, which have to be designed and adopted fast.
How are standards currently developed? An industry, authorities or even single organizations get together to design the standard.
While Agile methods transformed most of the IT Industry, this standard will be designed in the same way as it was done 15 years ago.
As a result, we often see very long development cycles, with 7 to 10 years not being unheard of.
The process is slow because it lacks input from implementation and use. The long design time results in high opportunity costs and in major risks for implementation.
Let’s look at an example: In Europe, more than 10.000 organisations need to build the INSPIRE Geospatial Cloud together, with services for discovery, viewing, downloading and analyzing spatial, statistical and environmental data, based on common specifications.
Start 01:15 – Duration 10s
So, when can experts like those in a geospatial standards group work effectively? Experts need fast Feedback to intuitively make good decisions.
Start 01:25 – Duration 25s
Our solution is to shorten the feedback cycle from design to analysis from months and years to seconds and minutes.
We do this by providing:
Easy to use design and transformation tools
…that give instant feedback through high-performance transformation and immediate deployment
…and that support expert decisions with data from usage and implementation analysis
Start 01:50 – Duration 10s
We implement this approach in our unique design-transform-share platform for the agile development and adoption of shared specifications.
Start 02:00 – Duration 15s
The first component of this platform is an Open Source product called HALE. HALE is a desktop data harmonization app that implements real-time transformation, data validation and publishing. It’s proven, and has hundreds of active users.
Start 02:15 – Duration 10s
The second component is we»exchange. It’s the first online platform that enables experts to share models, edit them together, and to collaborate on developing transformation projects.
Start 02:25 – Duration 35s
All our tools are built on a declarative paradigm where elements of a source data structure are mapped to elements of a target data structure.
Such transformation mappings are reusable, and the difficulty of authoring them stays constant independent of the structure complexity.
We’ve made this work through years of R&D, and our software automatically optimizes the hell out of the execution.
In comparison, our competitors’ products in the geospatial area become unwieldy and require massive processing times with modern standards.
Start 03:00 – Duration 25s
We monetize this advantage in three ways:
Services around HALE currently make up the majority of our revenue.
We now transition to revenue from subscriptions for our platform – available as Software as a Service or On-Premise. These subscriptions come in different sizes for individual professionals and for organisations.
The final revenue stream will come from mining models and transformation projects.
Start 03:25 – Duration 35s
In the next five years, more than 15.000 organisations need to implement INSPIRE, E-Reporting and other standards. These organizations want to get an effective, low-headache solution. They want a future-proof solution that can support their core business processes as well, so it needs to be extensible. That market has a size estimated at 130M€ for 2020, and we want to win at least 10% of it!
We believe we can deliver such a solution and win that share,
as we already have substantial traction.
Start 04:05 – Duration 15s
And INSPIRE/Geospatial is just the beginning: We can transpose this model to other markets where the exchange of structured information is essential, such as AEC, biotech, or e-commerce.
Start 04:20 – Duration 15s
We believe this is our opportunity: We have domain, technical and management experience. We have traction, we’re supported well by experienced advisors and have secured seed financing.
Start 04:35 – Duration 25s
For us, the EIT challenge is about acceleration.
The prize will help us greatly in attracting good talent, which is our number 1 challenge.
It will help us in market reach, and the funds will allow us to deliver additional innovation and to protect it
– for a sustainable, rapidly growing business.
