The reality is that some firms will have mega-hits with AI-enabled applications, and many more will suffer setbacks based on flawed adoption strategies.

A single device can produce thousands of events every second. In traditional implementations, all data is transmitted back to a server or gateway for scoring by a machine learning (ML) model. This data is also stored in a data repository for later use by data scientists. In this session, we explore data science techniques for dealing with time series data leveraging Amazon SageMaker. We also look at modeling applications using deterministic rules with streaming pipelines for data prep, and model inferencing using deep learning frameworks directly onto edge devices or onto AWS Lambda using Project Flogo, an open-source event-driven framework. It is about applying an agent-oriented software engineering (AOSE) methodology, i.e. the Agent Systems Engineering Methodology (ASEME) for building intelligent systems. We present it along with a case study in the Ambient Intelligence (AmI) Application Domain. We discuss the challenges, the ASEME Methodology, the System Architecture and our results.
At IndexConf 2018 in San Francisco I shared some of our experience making use of Artificial Intelligence in actual customer-facing applications. In particular, the merits of using the Strategy Design Pattern to manage how that intelligence is exposed to the user.

Systems of systems that manage health care or enable Albert’s “power to the edge” are expected to provide the flexibility to engage multiple enterprises in innovative, collaborative, ways to solve problems. This paper describes a systems engineering approach to engineer infrastructure that will support the restriction of systems of systems behavior at the time of use rather than at design time. We present a process for describing demands within their context of use, and how organizational variations in collaborative approaches (geometries-of-use) can be re-lated to variations in these demands-in-context (pragmat-ics), thus giving a way to engineer a systems-of-systems’ agility i.e. its ability to adapt to changing demands.

Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
