to promote or sell something, usually a business's product or service.

An advertising agency or ad agency or advert agency is a service
based business dedicated to creating, planning, and handling advertising (and
sometimes other forms of promotion) for its clients. An ad agency is generally
independent from the client (it may be an internal department or even an internal
agency) and provides an outside point of view to the effort of selling the client's
products or services.

 Y&R (originally Young & Rubicam) is a marketing and communications company specializing

 In 1923, John Orr Young and Raymond Rubicam established a small advertising agency in Philadelphia. The
company moved to New York in 1926 as a condition of securing a contract with the newly formed Jell-O company
 Young & Rubicam Advertising is one of the world's largest consumer advertising agency. Young & Rubicam
Advertising ranks as the world's 10th largest advertising agency, with revenues of approximately $907 million.
 In May 2012, a controversial ad made for the Argentine government by Young & Rubicam Argentina aired. In the
video, an Argentine Olympic athlete is shown training in The Falkland Islands, including running up the steps of a
British war memorial. The video quickly went viral and caused offense in Britain.

 Dentsu was originally established as Japan Advertising Ltd. and Telegraphic Service Co. by Hoshiro Mitsunaga. In
1906, Telegraphic Service Co. became Japan Telegraphic Communication Co., Ltd. The next year, Japan
Advertising Ltd. merged with Japan Telegraphic Communication Co., Ltd. to create advertising and communications
operations.
 In March 2011, Dentsu formed an official partnership with Facebook to help develop Facebook pages, Facebook ads,
and marketing strategies in general. The partnership also provides Dentsu with premium advertising space on
Facebook.
 Since 1925 Dentsu employees have had a company tradition of climbing Mount Fuji. Employees who are not
physically able to do so are exempt.
BBDO
 BBDO is a worldwide advertising agency network, with its headquarters in New York City. The agency began in 1891
with George Batten's Batten Company, and later in 1928, through a merger of BDO (Barton, Durstine & Osborn) and
Batten Co. the agency became BBDO.
 The Barton & Durstine agency (founded by Bruce Fairchild Barton and William H. Johns) opened in January 1919,
and when Alex Osborn joined the company, the company was named Barton, Durstine, and Osborn.
 BBDO Worldwide has been named the "Most Awarded Agency Network in the World" by The Gunn Report for six
consecutive years beginning 2005 It has also been named Agency of the Year in 2005 byAdweek, Advertising Age,
and Campaign.
 It has won "Network of the Year" at the Cannes Lions five times. With more than 15,000 employees in 289 offices in

 The agency that would become Ogilvy & Mather got its start in London in 1850 when Edmund Charles Mather
began an advertising agency on Fleet Street, the traditional location and current metonym of the British newspaper
industry.
 In 1921, Mather & Crowther hired Francis Ogilvy as a copywriter. Ogilvy eventually became the first non-family
member to chair the agency. When the agency launched the Aga Cooker, a Swedish cook Stove, Francis composed
letters in Greek to appeal to British Public School.
 On September 23, 1948, David Ogilvy opened his U.S. shop as Hewitt, Ogilvy, Benson, & Mather on Madison
Avenue in Manhattan. Initially, Mather & Crowther and S.H. The appliance's best sales leads. Francis also helped his
younger brother, David Ogilvy, secure a position as an Aga salesman.
 Benson gave the agency four clients that were relatively unknown in the U.S. and had small budgets,
including Wedgwood China, British South Africans Airways, Guinness, and Bovril . OPR operates 69 offices in
locations throughout the world.

 TBWA Worldwide is an international advertising agency whose headquarters are in Midtown Manhattan, New York
City, United States. The Agency is a unit of Omnicom Group, the world's largest advertising agency holding
company.
 It was founded in 1970 in Paris, France, by William G. Tragos (American, Management), Claude Bonnange (French,
Marketing), Uli Wiesendanger (Swiss, Creation), and Paolo Ajroldi (Italian, Client Services).
 TBWA has a philosophy called the disruption and Media Arts created by Jean Marie Dru when he was in BDDP
(French advertising agency now called BDDP&Fils) the May 1st of 1992. The Disruption is explained in different
books created by Jean Marie Dru, such as Disruption", "How Disruption brought order and Beyond Disruption:
changing the rules in the marketplace”.
