1. What’s the origin of the word “Halloween”?
The origin of Halloween it´s an ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, it´s a time of year
that was often associate with human death.
2. Describe at least 3 superstitions related to this festivity.
On the night of October 31, when it was believed that the ghost of the dead returnerd
to earth.
On Halloween, people thought that they would encounter ghosts if they left their
homes.To avoid being recognized by these ghosts, people would wear masks when
they left their homes after dark so that the ghosts would mistake them for fellow
spirits.
We avoid crossing paths with black cats, afraid that they might bring us bad luck.
3. Why do we carve pumpkins for Halloween?
The practice of decorating “jack-o’-lanterns” is from an Irish folktale about a man
named Stingy Jack, the story tell about a man named Jack who tricked the devil,
and when he died was rejected by God and the devil forced him to wander and use
a pumpkin with a candle as a flashlight.

The celebration Day of the dead was originated centuries ago in Mexico. The holiday
is a blend of pre-Hispanic indigenous beliefs and Spanish Catholic beliefs.

People celebrate this Mexican tradition to remember their loved ones, the believed
that they return to their homes, so they set an altar with food.
