After Joshua's death, the Israelites asked the Lord who should go up first to fight against the Canaanites. The Lord said Judah should go up, and in their battle, Judah captured Adonibezek, the king of Bezek. Judah cut off his thumbs and big toes, as he had done to seventy other kings, before they brought him to Jerusalem, where he died.
