Conduct surveys and interview
teachers to substantiate findings.
(ii) Estimate / project the broad age
profile and work experience of the
untrained and under-qualified
teachers, and advice on the type of
training that is required, and how it
should be provided across schools
/districts (i.e. sequencing).
(iii) Identify, adapt, and develop good
quality support material for
strengthening teacher education and
secondary/higher secondary
education classroom practice in
coordination with recognized public
and private entities.
(iv) Develop additional content modules
for secondary-higher secondary
school teachers based on an
assessment of their needs.
(v) Focus on how ICT-based teaching
methods can be used for improving
the effectiveness of teaching and
learning. Prepare a report on the
types of secondary-higher secondary
courses, teacher training courses, and
career counseling modules that can
be loaded onto the tablets which will
be procured under the project and
distributed to select schools. Do a
review of such material available in
the market and advice on how this
can be adapted to fit the context of
Meghalaya.
(vi) Develop contextualized learning
modules for secondary-higher
secondary school students based on
an assessment of their needs. Factor
in their unique tribal and cultural
orientation while designing these
modules.
(vii) Assist DOE in preparing detailed
RFPs (request for proposal) for
engaging private teacher training
providers and agencies such as
NCERT and IGNOU for providing
training for secondary and higher
secondary teachers.
(viii) Coordinate with the public and private
providers of teacher training, and
ensure that the quality of training
provided is good.
(ix) Serve as a first point of call for
pedagogical related advice, on the
part of other project related staff and
consultants.
