This document discusses adaptive leadership and how it was utilized in a case study of nursing homes. Adaptive leadership helps individuals and organizations adapt to changing environments. The case study found that Directors of Nursing demonstrated adaptive leadership in their care plan assessment strategies, involvement of family in care, and addressing new healthcare issues. Adaptive leadership was also used to deal with staff noncompliance issues through determining the causes and using re-training. The document provides examples of care plans and supervisory strategies that exhibit adaptive leadership qualities.
