Introduction – Web portal
  What’s a portal?
  A web portal consists of applications that deliver
     information (content) and/or services from multiple
     sources, via a device channel at a device specific
     location, in a context relevant to the needs of an
     individual in a specific role.

Three views of a Web portal :
  Business View
     It is a means for the owner to reach a specific target audience
      with a tailored set of information &apps.
  User’s View
     Interested in functionality, look & feel,availability,ease of use
      and reliability.
  Technical View
     Using handy devp’t tools,handling the business logic etc..

Why a web portal ..?(statement of the problem
  Very low interaction b/n people about dam.
  To deliver a precise & up-to-date information.
  Record gradual devp’t of the construction process.
  Lack of room to entertain people’s opinion about the
     project.

  Unnecessary redundancy / duplication of information
  Delays in access and data insecurity
  Less integrated data and inconsistency
  Un managed information flow

    Improving the efficiency of services provided by
     designated governmental organizations by
     enabling employees of the project access valuable
     and reliable information at ease.
    Increasing accessibility of information about the
     project goings-on through the delivery of valuable
     information to public easily
    .

Specific objectives
  Achievement of the above general objective demands
     meeting the following specific objectives.
        A thorough analysis of the manual system in order to elicit
         the appropriate requirements.
        Designing subsystems meeting the requirements stipulated
         during system analysis.
        Preparing important infrastructures that will help to run the
         newly developed system (such as a World Wide Web
         Network).

        Testing the system developed to make sure that all the
         necessary requirements are met (both functional and
         non-functional requirements)
        Providing the necessary training for the Backend user
         and stakeholders involved in the system.
        Dynamically reporting the completion of the data to
         selected user (employee).

  Our methodology generally incorporates the following
     major tasks:
           Scoping and planning
           Analysis and requirement definition
           System Design (screen designing and Sequencing)

  Security
     Passwords and documents will be encrypted .
     End-users will have to register in order to access Bond, Forum and
      File Sharing Modules.
     Users will be authenticated with different privileges and groups.
  Localization
     For the first version of the portal, users will have access to use
      Amharic language as an option.
     It is in plan to include other languages (main focus is on local
      languages) on latter versions.

Summary
  To summarize ,delivery and full deployment of the project
     will benefit the government and the public by:
        Promoting the project worldwide.
        Record history.
        Help induct decisions based on present data and
         summaries(reports created from people’s opinions etc..).
        Enabling end-users have instant and updated information about
         progress of the project.
