2.  Acute abdomen is a condition that demands
urgent attention and treatment. The acute
abdomen may be caused by an
 infection,
 inflammation,
 vascular occlusion,
 obstruction.
 The patient will usually present with sudden
onset of abdominal pain with associated nausea
or vomiting.

3.  A patient with an acute abdomen should
include a thorough history and physical
exam. The location of pain is critical as it may
signal a localized process.
 In patients with free air, it may present with
diffuse abdominal pain.
 Peritonitis.

4.  Lacerate spleen or liver,
(blood may be released into the abdomen)

5.  Ischemic bowel disease (ISBODI) is the most
common vascular disorder of the
gastrointestinal tract.

6. Volvulus,
( loop of intestine twists around itself and the
mesentery that supplies it, causing a bowel
obstruction, causing a bowel obstruction.)

8.  An uncommon but serious condition called
ovarian torsion (also known as adnexal
torsion) occurs when the ovary, and
sometimes the fallopian tube, twist on the
tissues that support them.
