The document discusses how having faith in Christ's forgiveness of sins through his death and resurrection leads to improved well-being. It emphasizes that Christians can be secure in their relationship with God. This security is important to grow in faith and serve others well without lacking confidence in God's acceptance. The document outlines three arguments from scripture for why a Christian's salvation is secure: direct statements about eternal security, Christians' unchanging positions before God, and God causing believers to persevere through life to salvation not by their own efforts alone. This security allows Christians to invest in their relationship with God without being burdened by guilt or worries over their acceptance.
This document compares the prayers of a Pharisee and a tax collector. It discusses how the Pharisee stood proudly praying about his own righteousness while the tax collector humbly asked for God's mercy. The tax collector was justified, while the Pharisee was not. The document encourages resolving to get right with God, stop promoting ourselves, and instead tune our lives to record God's truths each day through his compassion and faithfulness.
This document discusses the concept of trust in God. It defines trust as belief, confidence, and reliance. Trusting in God means believing that He is our creator, provider, healer, and deliverer based on what is revealed about Him in scripture. The document encourages placing full reliance and dependence on God, as Daniel and others did when facing danger. It suggests getting to know God through reading His word and communing with Him in order to strengthen trust based on experience. Overall, the key message is that to truly trust is to believe in God's power, character, and faithfulness as revealed in the Bible.
The document summarizes the agenda for a Saturday session on whether it is God's will to heal. It provides several examples of people who experienced immediate healing through prayer, such as a woman with MS who was healed of her condition, a man with cancer who was healed through prayer verified by medical scans, and more. It poses questions on the source of healing, who paid the price for salvation and healing, whether sickness comes from God or the fall, and whether Jesus ever did not heal anyone based on the gospels.
The document discusses how to be secured by God's love alone. It provides 4 points: 1) Believe God's love for you is perfect and everlasting. 2) Renounce insecurity, rejection, and condemnation, as through Christ you are free. 3) Don't depend on imperfect human love but rather God's unfailing love. 4) Meditate on and memorize verses about God's unfailing love. Bible verses from Jeremiah, Psalms, Romans, and Lamentations are referenced to support these points.
In this lesson we learn of a father who has a son that has been sick since childhood. He desperate to have him cured and he seek out Jesus. Both audio and slides can be enjoyed together at www.cmcoc.org
The sermon discusses reconnecting with one's spouse after military deployment. It emphasizes reconnecting emotionally through love and respect, as well as reconnecting sexually through open communication, patience, and flexibility. Military marriages face adjustments to living arrangements, roles, and responsibilities as well as baggage from deployment. The sermon encourages focusing on love over expressions of love in order to reconnect.
The document discusses how Christians can get discouraged and provides advice on how to respond properly. When feeling discouraged, Christians often pray the wrong kinds of prayers, say the wrong things, think the wrong thoughts, do the wrong actions, see things the wrong way, get into the wrong places or mindsets. Instead of reacting negatively, the document recommends admitting your discouragement, seeking encouragement from the Bible, praying truthfully about your feelings, and speaking with other Christians for guidance to overcome discouragement. It concludes by reminding readers that salvation comes through hearing, believing, repenting of sins, confessing faith in Jesus, and baptism.

The document discusses sin and holiness based on 1 John 1:5-2:2. It outlines three claims of holiness that are false, and three correct attitudes. The false claims are that we have fellowship with God while walking in darkness, that we bear no guilt of sin, and that we have not sinned. The correct attitudes are to walk in the light as God is in the light, confess our sins, and realize we are obligated to keep God's law, with Jesus as our advocate when we sin.
The document discusses several forms of "easy believe-ism" or false doctrines that are contrary to biblical teachings. It asserts that salvation requires more than just believing in Jesus or saying a "sinners prayer" - it requires hearing and believing the gospel, repenting of sins, confessing faith in Christ, being baptized, and faithfully living for Jesus. True salvation comes from obeying God's word, not holding beliefs that only certain people can be saved or that thoughts and works do not matter.
Series - The GHOSTs Of Christmas Past - Part 1 - GUILT - 11-29-15LifePointe Church
This is Part 1 of Pastor Chuck Bernal's 2015 Christmas message series titled, "The GHOSTs Of Christmas Past". "GHOSTs" is an acronym for: GUILT, HOPELESSNESS, OFFENSE, SORROWS, THREATS. This first message deals with the three causes of guilt and how Christmas proves four ways God forgives us. This message was delivered on Sunday, November 29, 2015.
This document discusses how to gain assurance of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. It provides several biblical passages that explain how salvation is a gift from God granted through faith, not works. It asserts that true believers can know they are saved based on evidence like having a new nature oriented towards righteousness, exhibiting the fruit of the Spirit, practicing righteous living, and demonstrating love for fellow believers. Even if Christians sin, God's grace through repentance and the blood of Jesus allows sins to be forgiven. Overall, the document aims to give Christians biblical reasons to have confidence in their salvation.
This document provides a call to pray for the deaf and hard of hearing around the world on June 12, 2011. It lists seven areas of "disasters" - earth, life, spiritual, new generation, financial, political, and church disasters - and provides a corresponding Bible verse and crisis/prayer for each. It encourages Christians to remain strong and anchored in their faith and hope in God during difficult times. It was created by the New Life Deaf Church prayer team to share with churches for worldwide prayers on that day.
This document contains information about upcoming events at the Gospel Baptist Tabernacle church located in Rossville, GA. It announces that children's church will be taught by Paul and Marsha Davis during preaching on March 2, 2014. It also advertises a free concert by Blaine and Christine Bowman to be held at the church on April 5, 2014 at 6:00 PM. Various bible verses and passages encourage believers to listen to wise counsel, obey God's word, and keep their eyes focused on heavenly things rather than worldly possessions.
The document discusses the lifestyle of an overcomer based on biblical passages from Exodus. It emphasizes that God, his love, and his truth must be the foundation. The Israelites struggled at times with not knowing God, having no thoughts of God, and doubting him, but became overcomers when they affirmed God's deliverance with song. Submission and obedience to God are keys to his blessing and protection. Living as an overcomer requires daily choosing to submit to and obey God's will.
This is the truth about truth pt.2 A leadership study in truth. The design of this teaching is to encourage and foster truth telling no matter what. To encourage very spiritual leader to walk in complete honest, integrity and truth.
1 Cor. 1:9-10 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
This document discusses keys to spiritual breakthrough based on examples from Jesus' life and teachings. It identifies five keys: 1) Make room for Jesus by inviting his presence; 2) Overcome paralysis by repenting, asking forgiveness, and making your way to God; 3) Be in the right company by surrounding yourself with people of faith; 4) Refuse to be denied but persist in faith; 5) Remove human limitations and recognize that with God all things are possible. The overall message is that by applying these principles from Jesus' example, we can have breakthroughs in our spiritual lives.
Salvation is described as "so great" because it encompasses many doctrines and is beyond what can be earned, paid for, or improved on. It is a free gift from God that saves people forever from hell. Neglecting this great salvation will result in eternal damnation, just as Dale Earnhardt died after neglecting to wear an available safety device. All people need to accept this salvation by receiving Christ in order to escape judgment and spend eternity in heaven.
This document discusses how to approach a new season of life. It says that often something must die before God's new thing can emerge, and that our calling is unique. It then lists three natural defaults people fall into: using past failures as an excuse, making peace with present dysfunctions, and settling for temporary solutions instead of God's final destination. It quotes that faith never knows where it is being led but knows the one doing the leading. Faith is hearing God say "Go" without knowing where. True faith confidently trusts in God alone.

This document is a summary of a sermon about how problems can cause believers to draw closer to God through trust, prayer, and viewing problems as tests from God. It discusses maintaining self-control and discipline when facing troubles. The sermon argues that problems will never be greater than God's power and that God promises to answer calls for help and deliver the righteous from all their troubles. Maintaining faith and turning to God are presented as the keys to overcoming problems.
The document discusses confession of sins and its importance. It provides several biblical examples of individuals and groups confessing their sins and being forgiven by God. It defines confession as admitting guilt for sins based on inward conviction. Several quotes from the Bible emphasize that confessing sins leads to forgiveness from God. The document also provides examples of statements used in confessing sins to God and asking for forgiveness and healing.
Faith is defined as having confidence and assurance in things hoped for but not seen, and involves worshipping God, being patient while waiting on Him, living a holy life, persevering through trials, and trusting God rather than relying on oneself. True faith results in works and obedience to God's word, not just words without action. Faith has Jesus Christ as its central object and is based on His finished work on the cross to overcome sin and give believers authority over Satan. The document provides guidance on growing one's faith through studying Scripture, prayer, taking every thought captive to Christ, and demonstrating faith through actions rather than relying on personal effort alone.
This document discusses light in both the physical and spiritual realms. It notes that God is the greatest light and Christians should shine God's light to others. It encourages believers to let Christ's light illuminate them so they can shine their light to glorify God and penetrate darkness through an active faith. The document concludes by urging readers to become faithful lamps of Christ by getting saved through hearing, believing, repenting of sins, confessing Christ, and being baptized.
Gaius was spiritually fit as his soul was doing well. He was also faithful, as others had told the elder about Gaius's faithfulness to the truth and how he continued walking in the truth. Finally, Gaius was obedient, as the elder hoped Gaius would help some brothers by providing for them on their journey, as Gaius had shown hospitality to strangers before.
There are words that we sometimes skip over, when we talk about faith. What does conversion really mean? What is sin? And these questions lead to other questions: How come I can't fix myself? What does Christ's death have to do with my ability to even come to Christ in faith? What signs should I see of my conversion? What is baptism? What does it symbolize? Why is it important?
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is in October and the document encourages getting checked for breast cancer to help win the fight against it. The author Brenda Cobb is a breast cancer survivor who wants others to spread awareness, check themselves, and seek help from organizations like cancer.org and komen.org that provide health resources and support.
This passage discusses God's righteousness that is available through faith in Jesus Christ for all believers. It states that God's righteousness is a gift that is placed upon believers, covering them and allowing God to see no sin. Faith is the means by which one obtains this righteousness, which involves believing and trusting in Jesus Christ. The righteousness is provided for all who believe, as there is no distinction - both Jews and Gentiles can receive it, as all people are sinners in need of salvation.

The document discusses strategies for churches to go on the offensive. It recommends that churches remember predictions about the future, re-center on the gospel message, and reach out to fringe groups like doubters and degraders. When reaching out to the fringes, churches should take care not to compromise their message or get burned themselves. Churches are advised to strike a balance in how far they reach into the fire to make a difference without compromising. Ultimately, the document says churches should reverence the Lord by recognizing his faithfulness and glory.
The document discusses sin and holiness based on 1 John 1:5-2:2. It outlines three claims of holiness that are false, and three correct attitudes. The false claims are that we have fellowship with God while walking in darkness, that we bear no guilt of sin, and that we have not sinned. Slides from Chuck Bonadies' message "Acts of the Apostates: Ungodliness" preached on 2/20/2011
http://suberroad.org/Media/Services/Matthew/Acts-of-the-Apostates--Ungodliness
The document discusses Paul advocating for a "posture of defiance" against legalism based on the book of Galatians. It summarizes that to develop this posture, one must affirm the gospel by standing up for gentile inclusion as seen in the case of Titus, fight for the gospel by recognizing attacks can come from within and understanding what is truly at stake, and live the gospel in ministry, fellowship, and social concern.
The document discusses two motivations for evangelism based on passages from Matthew 8-9. It describes a vision of a glorious God that should motivate outreach, as Jesus taught in synagogues, preached the gospel, and healed the sick. It also describes a vision of a broken world that should motivate outreach through compassion, as the sinner is harassed and helpless in a broken world.
This document discusses three spiritual gifts mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12: wisdom, knowledge, and faith. It provides biblical examples and explanations of each gift. Wisdom is described as supernatural direction from God for specific situations. Knowledge involves revelations from God about hidden truths. Faith allows believers to act in faith to accomplish God's purposes. The document aims to help readers understand these gifts and how they operated in the early church.
09/08/2015 - Rolling Hills Community Church, Lago Vista Texas. Men't Bible Study. Introduction Part 1 to The Story. Overview of the Bible and How to Study. Presented by Chris Reighley
This document discusses having the mind of Christ. It describes how Christ, though equal to God, humbled himself by taking human form and obeying God, even to death on the cross. Therefore, God exalted Christ above all others. The document encourages developing the attitude and mindset of Christ through focusing on him, being transformed by renewing one's mind, and seeking God's kingdom and righteousness. It also discusses how Christ offers freedom from sin and bondage through knowing and following his teachings.
Unused Power James 3:13-18 Adapted from a Jeremias Fababier sermon http://www.sermoncentral.com/sermons/unused-power-jeremias-fababier-sermon-on-christian-witness-126402.asp
The document discusses salvation through belief in Jesus Christ. It states that God has already given believers eternal life as a free gift found in his Son. All that is required is to believe in Jesus in order to possess eternal life. For those who believe, the results are that they will not be judged and will have crossed over from death to life. In summary, the document outlines that God has promised eternal life, the condition is to believe in his Son Jesus, and the result of meeting this condition is possessing eternal life.
The document is a summary of Romans 1-5 from the Bible. It discusses how all people have sinned and fallen short of God's glory, leaving them subject to God's wrath. However, it explains that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ, not by works of keeping the law perfectly. By grace through faith, not works, believers are justified and reconciled to God and granted peace, having been delivered from wrath through Jesus' death and resurrection.
Os Hillman and his daughter Charis Hillman Brown lead a session for Mercy Ministries in Nashville, March 2015. The topic is on how to overcome hindrances in life to fulfill your God-designed purpose.
Sermon by Mike Smith
This lesson is about correcting some wrong views about God, and taking a look from the "Mountain top" for a better view of spiritual truth.
Despite Cornelius’ essential goodness, God sends Peter to him with a message of salvation. We cannot be saved by ourselves or our good works. We must be saved through Jesus: Hearing of Him, Believing in Him, Being Baptized into Him, and Repenting. In this we find peace, forgiveness and life. (First presented 25 November 2007)
The document discusses the differences between the Old and New Covenants. It shows that the Old Covenant, given through Moses, was faulted because the Israelites could not keep God's law through their own works. The New Covenant, established through Jesus Christ, provides forgiveness of sins and the Holy Spirit's power to write God's law on the heart. Quotes from Scripture and Ellen White establish that the New Covenant existed from the time of Abraham and the promises of redemption and salvation have always been received through faith, not works of the law.
God is described as just and good. The document discusses what it means for God to be just, providing definitions and examples from scripture. It notes that God's justice is seen in punishing sin yet also providing a way of forgiveness through Jesus Christ. This allows God to be both just and merciful. The document also discusses what it means for God to be good, citing a story of Jesus instructing a rich man on entering the Kingdom of God and possessing eternal life.
The document is a Bible study guide for the 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time A. It provides commentary and reflections on the day's Scripture readings which include passages from Sirach, Psalm 119, 1 Corinthians, and Matthew. The readings focus on making wise choices, praying for guidance to follow God's laws, possessing divine wisdom through the Holy Spirit, and living a life of holiness beyond what is prescribed in the law. The document is intended to aid preparation for the Sunday liturgy and homily.
1) God accuses Israel of forgetting all that He has done for them, including delivering them from Egypt and sending leaders like Moses.
2) Israel responds by asking what they must do, and God replies that He requires them to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God.
3) Living this way involves showing faithfulness, justice, and mercy to others, with a special focus on helping the needy and less fortunate. True religion is demonstrated through loving deeds rather than empty rituals and words.
Did God arbitrarily elected some of the totally depraved and totally disabled people to salvation and heaven while purposely and arbitrarily choosing to design others for condemnation and eternal hell for something they could not change? This lesson looks at the doctrine of "Unconditional Election". What does the Bible really say?

Hope and Hell - talk 1 - Is 'hell' the answer to the wrong question?Gospel Conversations
Hell is the question we all avoid but it is the corollary of hope. How do we fit the two together? Is the traditional model of hell right? Or scriptural? Could everyone get saved in the end? Tony begins to address these vexed questions by first examining the landscape of the debate - the language and assumptions, the possibilities, the history and the problems of all the usual positions. He ends by suggesting a better question to frame our thinking.
These slides were created to accompany our Bible Study series Beyond Belief: Exploring the Character of God, Session 3, God is Always Just" by Freddy Cardoza.
This document discusses the concept of holiness from a Christian perspective. It provides five essential elements for growing in holiness: 1) having convictions based on biblical truth, 2) making a commitment to obedience, 3) disciplining daily choices, 4) depending on the Holy Spirit, and 5) developing a God-centered desire. It encourages readers to reflect on which element is most evident in their life and which needs strengthening, then to take steps to improve the weaker area. The document stresses that holiness is about obedience to God rather than personal feelings of victory or defeat. It closes with quotes emphasizing that God's aim is to make people holy.
The document contrasts religion and the gospel. It states that religion divides people into righteous and sinners, while the gospel does not make such distinctions. Religion is motivated by trying to gain God's favor through actions, whereas the gospel's motivation comes from reacting to God's favor with humility. Religion can darken the heart, while the gospel flows from a changed heart.

Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.
