Please, shut up, everybody now! We
are in class!
One of the most difficult tasks of a teacher is to keep
silence in class. It is even more difficult when it comes to
children. With these tips you will learn techniques to keep
silence in class.
But, usually, when one hears «please», he performs the action that he
follows with more desire. The «please» goes beyond what is beautiful and
courteous. It’s an expression of respect and consideration for your effort.
That’s why you feel more moved to help the person who shows that attitude.
Teacher, when you speak like that, people
feel treated like children.
If you are lucky enough to teach a primary or secondary grade, try to
approach it in a way that gives your students a level of agency in their
learning experience.
For many, this can be a naive, inexperienced reflection on how to run a
classroom. But for people like me, it’s a reminder that, even if their students
are young, it doesn’t mean that I can encourage them to overcome their
level of maturity by treating, speaking, and teaching them as if they were
older. An agreed understanding of what maturity means is probably
different in your mind than it is for your students.
OK, teacher. You’re always right.
In order to educate and to be able to be educated, the first thing you have
to have is respect for yourself. Be aware of the importance of properly
assessing the importance of what you are doing. Teachers must understand
that their work goes far beyond the mere transmission of knowledge and
students must understand that the education they receive is really important
in order to develop as individuals.
In conclusion, respect, like any other value,
can be taught and learned... surely it is the
most important learning a person can receive.
