Institute to meet the needs of project managers who
have increasingly found themselves working with agile
methods, methodologies, practices, and techniques.
 And just like with the PMP certification, PMI has
constructed an exam based on real world tasks,
tools, and practices used by agile teams every day.

 The PMI-ACP exam is designed to reflect the
way teams work in the real world. It covers the
most common methods and methodologies,
including Scrum, XP, and Lean/Kanban. The
exam questions are based on knowledge and
real-world tasks that teams use every day.
PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)® handbook
This handbook contains information on how you can
apply for the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)®
certification.
It applies to both computer-based and paper-based
testing candidates.
PMI requires that all certification applicants read the
entire handbook.
The purpose of this handbook is to provide you with
important information about the policies and procedures
for obtaining and maintaining the PMI-ACP®
certification.

Certificate Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the PMI-ACP® certification, candidates must meet the following
educational and professional experience requirements.

working on project teams

Certificate Validity Renewal Requirements
3 Years 30 PDU
Exam Information
The PMI-ACP exam is comprised of 120 multiple-choice questions. Of the 120
questions, 20 are considered pretest questions. Pretest questions do not affect
the score and are used in examinations as an effective and legitimate way to
test the validity of future questions. All questions are randomly placed
throughout the exam.

The PMI-ACP certification exam is developed based on the PMI-ACP® Examination Content Outline.
The exam blueprint details the topic areas (or domains) in which exam questions will focus. The
allocation of questions will be as follows:

 The role delineation study for agile project managers
was instrumental in the creation of the PMI-ACP®
certification examination.
 The tasks identified in the study have been organized
into major domains of practice and are listed in the
PMIACP ® Examination Content Outline.
 Each exam question is referenced to texts, such as
those noted on the PMI-ACP® examination preparation
reference list.
 Candidates are urged to use the Examination Content
Outline to guide their study and are also encouraged to
study current references in agile, such as those on the
reference list.
