This document discusses the optimal management of complications associated with achondroplasia. It begins with an introduction to achondroplasia, noting that it is the most common form of skeletal dysplasia and affects over 250,000 people worldwide. It then presents an expanded model of the ICF (International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health) to review the current literature on musculoskeletal, neurological, cardio-respiratory, and ear/nose/throat impairments and complications across the lifespan. The model shows how these body structure/function impairments can impact activities and participation. The document examines these impairments and complications in detail to help identify factors influencing participation and develop strategies to address them.
