A presentation on the apps I use daily to create, consume and have fun. Also some updated statistics in the world of mobile and some thoughts on B2B mobile. Presented to the E3 Network at the 2011 E3 AGM in Budapest.
In this session, we’ll take a deep dive into both platforms to cover:
- Terminology: Native, Web, Responsive, Adaptive
- Technical Breakdowns & Comparisons
- Inherent Advantages & Disadvantages
- Which Audience Is Where
- Available Marketing Opportunities
- Today's Newest Techniques & Tech for Mobile
This document discusses the evolution of mobile apps from native to web apps. It notes that early on, most apps were developed natively for each mobile platform, but that the trend is shifting to web apps that can work cross-platform using technologies like HTML5. The document outlines three strategies companies can take for building web apps: 1) using a native wrapper with a web view, 2) using a HTML5 framework, or 3) using a cross-platform framework. It also provides examples of companies taking these approaches and the benefits of web apps over native apps.
This document summarizes a presentation on mobile development trends. It discusses how mobile usage is surpassing desktop usage, with mobile traffic expected to be mostly video by 2016. Tablets are a major driver of mobile data usage. In-app purchases are very profitable for mobile games. Native mobile apps are generally better than mobile web apps. NoSQL databases and server-side APIs are increasingly used instead of traditional databases and server-side frameworks. The presentation advocates a mobile-first approach to development.

The document discusses how education and workforce development through science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education is crucial for economic growth and competitiveness in the modern global economy. It notes that countries need skilled labor forces and technological innovations which require investing in education. The document outlines common global themes of shortages in skilled workers and teachers as well as a need to invest in workforce development through education. It argues for a foundational knowledge approach combined with soft skills, communication skills and experience accelerator projects to develop the workforce.
This document summarizes a presentation on achieving innovation at scale in the NHS. It was chaired by leaders in the NHS and medical fields. One presentation discussed the EPISCISSORS-60, a patented episiotomy scissors that provides a more accurate cut and has led to reductions in childbirth injuries across several UK hospitals. Another presentation discussed implementing the i-THRIVE model of care for child and adolescent mental health services, which focuses on a needs-based pathway with multi-agency involvement, community support, and shared decision making. A third presentation was about the digital health company AliveCor and its wireless electrocardiogram devices.
Innovation in housing cooperative framework model a significant tool in achie...Habeeb Onimisi Shuaeeb
The document proposes a Collaborative Cooperative Housing Model (CCHM) framework to help address Nigeria's 17 million home housing deficit. The CCHM framework involves collaboration between housing cooperatives, property developers, financial institutions, and government agencies. It is argued that properly implementing the CCHM could help deliver quality, affordable housing at scale in an effective and timely manner across Nigeria. The document provides guidelines for integrating the various stakeholders in their defined roles within the CCHM and recommends that governments provide incentives and funding to support making the framework a key part of their mass housing strategies.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
