This document summarizes the research and innovation policies of the Auvergne territory in France over the last 12 years. It outlines the development of policies from initial national labeling of competitiveness clusters in 2005 to the current governance model established in 2015. Key elements include the creation of a joint tech transfer office in 2006, regional labeling of excellence clusters in 2009, development of the RIS3 strategy and operational program aligned with ERDF funds in 2013, and establishment of a public-private agreement (CODEPPA) to govern the RIS3 in 2015. The policies have aimed to increase collaboration between industry and academia through various grant and funding programs.
