Respect for the diversity and the principle of equal opportunity in the processes of
management of human resources
Abstract
The importance of the efective management of equal opportunities and diversity management
at work was never so important for the organisations like now days. Mainly, this is a result of
the society in which we are living, which is becoming more and more diverse in terms of
ethnic, national and religious grounds. The implementation of different laws that offers legal
protection agains discrimination at work in terms of many protected characteristics also
contributed to the increasing importance of respecting the equal opportunities and diversity,
not only at work, but also in everyday life.
As a result of the changes in the workforce structure, the organization, trought the menagment
of human resources, develop and implement programs and policies that help in respecting the
diversity and equal opportunities for all employees. In order to obtain information for the
situation in the Macedonian organizations regarding the concepts for diversity and equal
opportunities and the activities undertaken, as part of the thesis, a research is done trought an
anonymous survey, usiang a questionnaire. From the analyzed data can be concluded that the
working force in the organizations consiste of employees who comes form a different group
protected by law, but in order to be more open towards some certaint category of people they
must remove the existing visible barriers. Their removal has a major impact on the perception
of the organization as a promoter of these concepts. The management of human resources
should focus their activities towards the creation and implementation of policies, practices
and programs which will enlarge the employees knowledge regarding the concepts for
diversity and equal opportunities and also will give the information about the benefits it can
have not only on their work, but also on the organization’s working success. The data show
that also in the Macedonian organizations is present the trend of achieving gender quality and
equal pay between men and women. This is evident by the activities undertaken by the
organizations and institutions.
The collected data form the research and from the thesis, later can be use in some
other depper analyzes for some of the issues that are related with the concept of equal
opportunities and diversity.
