• Health organization under UNO.
• Founded on April 7, 1948
• Head quarters at Geneva, Switzerland
• Has 6 regional offices; one in India.
5. DIABETES
• Also called diabetes mellitus (Sugar).
• Abnormal increase in sugar or glucose in the blood.
• In world 371 million people are diabetic patients
• 7th leading disease of death –WHO
6. • Causes due to deficiency of insulin hormone.
• Symptoms of diabetes include
● increased urine output,
● excessive thirst,
● weight loss,
● hunger,
● fatigue, slow healing wounds etc
7. DIABETES IN INDIA
• One of the countries with highest number of diabetic patients.
• 40 million patients as per 2007 data.
• Predicted a rise to 79.4 million by 2030.
8. WHAT WE CAN DO ????
• Aware common people-diabetic’s effect
• Conduct medical camps.
• Have fruits instead of sweets.
• Suggest regular health check-ups.
