Project Title - Settling and Re-entrainment of wax particles in near-gelling systems
- Designed a 2-inch Experimental Loop to enable Tests with Synthetic Oils mixed with Paraffin Wax
in different Concentrations and Temperature settings. The Facility is able to provide Samples from
different parts of the Test Section in any desired Radial Location and in any Pipe Inclination.
- Studied the Settling Behavior of Wax Particles precipitating in systems where the final
Temperature is above or near the Pour Point of the mixture. Study conducted with three Different
Oils in Different Concentrations of Wax and different Cooling Rates.
- Used different Laboratory Equipment like Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), High
Temperature Gas Chromatography (HTGC), Constant Temperature Baths etc. to analyze the
samples from the Test Runs for different properties.
 Research Assistant under Dr. Jagan Mahadevan (Jun 2011 to Dec 2011)
Project Title – Injection & Temperature Profiling during Limited Entry Fracturing using DTS data
- Did Profiling for Temperature and Fluid Injections during Hydraulic Fracturing of Sundance Well
for all 5 Stages of Fracturing. Analysis included estimation of Fluid entering in any Perforation as
well as overall Fluid Injection at Surface using Distributed Temperature Sensor Data along the
Wellbore.
- Developed an Inverse Model on FORTRAN to predict the Injection Rates at Surface and in the
Perforations. Model Predictions were validated with Radioactive Tracer Data obtained from field.

Project Title – Carbonation of Hydrated Lime using pure Carbon-di-Oxide in a Foam Bed Reactor
- Simulated the Gas-Liquid-Solid Interaction of Hydrated Lime with pure Carbon-di-oxide in Foam
Bed Reactors. The study was carried out using different Surfactants. The Project was awarded
with an A+ Grade (the highest on offer).
Work Experience
 Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) - Production Engineer (Jul 2008 to Dec 2010)
 Commissioning Core Group Member - Motor Spirit Quality Upgradation (MSQU) Project (1 year 6
months)
- Commissioned the $70 million MSQU Project in Digboi Refinery in the capacity of a
Production/Process Engineer. The Plant processes Naphtha and Reformate into Isomerates to be
used to meet the Product Specifications in line with Euro-IV Standards. Responsibilities included
preparing P&ID’s for the Plant, carrying out HAZOP Study, carrying out Process Line Flushing,
Start-Up of the various Units of the Plant like Naphtha Splitter Unit, Hydrogenation Unit,
Isomerization Unit, Hydrogen Compressors, Pumps etc. and their smooth operation.
 Production Engineer - Hydrotreater Unit (HDTU), Amine Treatment Unit (ATU) and High Purity
Nitrogen Unit (HPNU) (1 year)
- Worked in shifts as Supervising Production Engineer leading a team of 6-8 people looking after
the Operations of these three Units. Responsibilities included Operational activities like
maintaining the Reactor Bed Temperatures in HDT, controlling Hydrogen Flow, maintaining Sulfur
output, ensuring proper and safe Cryogenic Operations in Nitrogen Unit etc. Have been involved in
Start-up and Shut-down activities of all these Units.

Major Modeling Experience
 Developed an Analytical Model to predict the Wellbore Temperature and Rock Temperature in a
Fractured Wellbore by solving two different equations for the said temperatures in time and space. The
Temperature Predictions from this Model could be subsequently used to estimate the Zonal Fluid
Injection Rates which could aid in determining the Fracture Geometry.
 Worked upon and modified The University of Tulsa Sand Management – Gene Kouba (TUSMP-GK)
Hindered Settling Models for its adequate application in precipitated Wax Settling scenarios. The
Modified Model could also account for Deviation from Spherical Shape of the particles and the
Predictions have provided Acceptable Conformance with the Experimental Results.
 Developed a Model to give a quick estimate of the Drilling Fluid flow rate required to transport Cuttings
from a well of any Hole Inclination Angle and taking into account both the Rolling as well as Sliding
motion of the Cuttings in the well.
 Developed a Model to Optimize Fuel Requirements based on the Analysis of outcoming Flue Gas as part
of my Internship Assignments at Vikram Ispat Limited, a Sponge-Iron processing plant.
Software/Programming Language Skillset
 PIPESIM – Carried out various projects on PIPESIM which included exercises like Nodal Analysis,
Velocity Profile Checks, Choke Effects etc.
 OLGA - Attended course on Transient Multiphase Design and Workshops - which included sessions taken
by SPT Group Members and carried out various transient multiphase simulations and exercises on OLGA.
 PVTSIM - Worked on it for Projects which included exercises like developing Phase Envelopes etc.
 FORTRAN - Developed a Reservoir Simulator from scratch for a Two-Phase 3D System.
- Co-developed a Code to predict Surface and Zonal Injection Rates in Sundance Well.
 VBA – Wrote a number of codes on VBA like an explicit finite difference simulator for waterflood of a core
containing oil and connate water, programming the Buckley Leverett Front etc.

 “Biodiesel Production” – My Team was among the Top 6 teams selected from a Nationwide Business
Plan Contest in March 2006 in India. Were invited to present our plan of Biodiesel Production using
Waste Vegetable Oils in front of an Industrial Panel.

Responsibilities included preparing P&ID’s for the Plant, carrying out HAZOP Study, carrying out Process Line Flushing, Start-Up of the various Units of the Plant like Naphtha Splitter Unit, Hydrogenation Unit, Isomerization Unit, Hydrogen Compressors, Pumps etc. and their smooth operation.  Production Engineer - Hydrotreater Unit (HDTU), Amine Treatment Unit (ATU) and High Purity Nitrogen Unit (HPNU) (1 year) - Worked in shifts as Supervising Production Engineer leading a team of 6-8 people looking after the Operations of these three Units. Responsibilities included Operational activities like maintaining the Reactor Bed Temperatures in HDT, controlling Hydrogen Flow, maintaining Sulfur output, ensuring proper and safe Cryogenic Operations in Nitrogen Unit etc. Have been involved in Start-up and Shut-down activities of all these Units.

The Temperature Predictions from this Model could be subsequently used to estimate the Zonal Fluid Injection Rates which could aid in determining the Fracture Geometry.  Worked upon and modified The University of Tulsa Sand Management – Gene Kouba (TUSMP-GK) Hindered Settling Models for its adequate application in precipitated Wax Settling scenarios. The Modified Model could also account for Deviation from Spherical Shape of the particles and the Predictions have provided Acceptable Conformance with the Experimental Results.  Developed a Model to give a quick estimate of the Drilling Fluid flow rate required to transport Cuttings from a well of any Hole Inclination Angle and taking into account both the Rolling as well as Sliding motion of the Cuttings in the well.  Developed a Model to Optimize Fuel Requirements based on the Analysis of outcoming Flue Gas as part of my Internship Assignments at Vikram Ispat Limited, a Sponge-Iron processing plant. Software/Programming Language Skillset  PIPESIM – Carried out various projects on PIPESIM which included exercises like Nodal Analysis, Velocity Profile Checks, Choke Effects etc.  OLGA - Attended course on Transient Multiphase Design and Workshops - which included sessions taken by SPT Group Members and carried out various transient multiphase simulations and exercises on OLGA.  PVTSIM - Worked on it for Projects which included exercises like developing Phase Envelopes etc.  FORTRAN - Developed a Reservoir Simulator from scratch for a Two-Phase 3D System. - Co-developed a Code to predict Surface and Zonal Injection Rates in Sundance Well.  VBA – Wrote a number of codes on VBA like an explicit finite difference simulator for waterflood of a core containing oil and connate water, programming the Buckley Leverett Front etc.  Other Softwares : Matlab, Mathematica.
