3. OHSU is a 540 bed academic medical center. It provides level 1 trauma care, has an
associated free standing pediatric hospital, and a broad array of medical and surgical
services.
These services include solid organ and stem cell transplants, advanced cardiac services
including LVAD and other complex patients, bariatric surgery, and full primary care services.
Pharmacy services at OHSU are constantly in evolution with a new decentralized clinical
model put in place over the last five years. With the initiation of an integrated medical record
system and computerized physician order entry ( EPIC soft ware ) the pharmacy has
mobilized the majority of pharmacists to patient wards where they now provide
decentralized care to all units daily.
In addition to daily patient review and individualized consultant services pharmacists
manage anticoagulation for hospitalized patients (heparin, warfarin, enoxaparin, and
argatroban), immune suppression regimens, antibiotics monitoring and most recently
pneumococcal screening via pharmacy managed care protocols and monitoring delirium
patient.
