A Wage Subsidy Work Experience Placement
can save you MONEY and TIME
Wage Subsidy Work Experience Placements provide Financial Support to an employer as incentive for the employer to hire
and provide work experience and skills enhancement to an eligible Client who has been identified as needing work experience.
If you wait until your employee has started work you are too late!
Employers Must
Be a registered business and provide the business legal name, WorkSafeBC number and business number;
Operating as a business for at least one year.
Not be an active Employment Program of BC Client participating in Self-Employment Services;
Be compliant with all applicable legislation, including, but not limited to: the Employment Standards Act; Workers Compensation
Act, Income Tax Act (Canada) and the Employment Insurance Act (Canada);
Have a position to fill that is normally part of their ongoing business operations;
Confirm that no workers will be laid off as a result of wage subsidy placement;
Confirm that the Client would not have been hired without a wage subsidy;
Offer a full-time position of a minimum 35 hours per week,
Offer the expectation of Long Term Employment;
Offer Insurable Employment;
Pay reasonable, competitive wages that are reflective of the prevailing wage rate for the position; and
Disclose any previous use of wage subsidy funding within the previous two years and demonstrate appropriate and successful
use of the previous support.
What’s in it for me? If your application is approved you will be reimbursed for a percentage of the wages of this
new employee, for the duration of the agreement.*
Who’s Eligible? Anyone who lives in the Abbotsford Area, is currently unemployed or underemployed
(working less than 20 hours a week), and is currently receiving Regular E.I. Benefits or has in the past 3 years.
(5 years for Maternity/Paternity Benefits)
