Salutations my friend, I am Claire Jimson. I live in the Virginia colony. I am eleven years old. I will turn twelve next February. I'm 5’2 .I have long brown hair and brown eyes. I'm sweet ,caring ,and helpful .
I have a very large family. I have one older sister named Holly she is seventeen and two younger sisters named Ana is nine and Brie is eight. My mothers name is Liz and my fathers name is Jim.
I live in a log cabin. It is very small inside ,but its perfect for us. Our roof is made of old tree stems. I have to share a tiny room with Ana. Holly has to share with Brie. Mom and Dad gave up their room for us.
I love to wear what my mom makes for me. She made all of my dresses. I love the one that has all the flowers on it. I sometimes wear a hat .
My father works as a farmer. He harvest crops like corn, beans, and other vegetables. The farm has been in the family since my great-grandmother Sue Claire. Sometimes my father’s friends come and help him. My father loves his job very much.
My mother works as a cook. She cooks for the sick people. My mother lets us kids help her serve the food. When my mother is sick Holly becomes the cook. My mother burns her hands when she is cooking our fabulous dinner. My mother loves her job very much.
My chores are a big part of my life. I have to do the dishes, wash clothes in the pond, clean, and make dinner. My favorite chore is cooking dinner for my family. I have many responsibilities. I love to do chores.
We played hoop stick after school. Another one of my favorite toy was my baby doll made out of cornhusk. I named her Elizabeth Jimson My dad made all of our toys. It takes him usually two days to make three toys. My favorite game is hoop stick. Playing games and playing with toys Is one of my favorite things to do.
My family eats different types food. For breakfast we eat sprouted cereals, for lunch luau and for a snack we eat nuts, and for dinner we have bean soup. My favorite meal is lunch because I love luau. We leaned how to make the meal from the Indians.
My school is Virginia Elementary. Mrs. Sally is our teacher she is very nice and sweet. Our school is very unique. Our school is made of brick. It has a log roof and has a bell on the side of the school. We used a quill to write with. We had to sit on a log laid on barrels. We have fifteen kids in our school. We go to school for four hours and then are sent home to help mother and father.
When I misbehave my father takes me out to the barn and paddle me. My punishment was cleaning the house, feeding animals and to sitting in my room without dinner. When my father paddled me, my back starts to hurt like you are being burned. I have a big red mark on my back. I got it by not doing my chores like I was told.
When I got sick my older sister and Mother took care of me. When I was five years old I got bitten by a snake. If I get poisoned my sister would hold me down while my mother sticks a slug on me. Slugs are what my family uses when we get poisoned. My family is very helpful when some neighbors get sick.
When my family went to church we met up with people that we knew and we talk about the Lord. Church is good for my family. After church neighbors come over and we have lunch. My mother cook bean soup for the adults and vegetable soup for the kids. My family reads the Bible every night before bed. Church is a big part of my life.
There are many laws in my colony and many punishments for breaking the law. My fathers worker Paul did not go to church one day and the mayor found out and he had to be punished by being paddled. I think some of these are cruel to be true. My mother said that don’t follow the rule then you have to pay the price.

Aaliyah
