Welcome everyone! I want to thank the organizers for inviting me to this event and gave me the opportunity to be talking with so many bright minded people. So let’s get going!
For those of you who didn’t got the chance to meet me yet, my name is Alex and I’m a master student at AAU, studying Entrepreneurial Engineering. Isn’t that strange?
You can find me on Facebook if you want to see me in my best or LinkedIn if you have some big opportunity to discuss. We will be talking today about coworking spaces. Is there anyone who’s not familiar with the concept? Great, I will be talking for you then. :D
Bunch of you will say that a whole bunch of independent professionals, coming together to share a facility that has all the stuff you find in a really nice office. That’s certainly not wrong but that’s the simplistic definition. For me, coworking is a way a of working, not a static place but the place where 3 cods in the word coworking converge: collaboration, cooperation, community. Is what our generation of millennials and genuine and people after us want from a work space, a service, a relationship, a community.
The Coworking space is the startup garage of the 21st century. What do you think Steve Jobs would have achieved if he started in a coworking space?
One thing that we miss in Aalborg is the workspace. There are lots of people that take initiative in building new ideas and working together, but we lack one thing, a workspace on demand. Some of the perks that a coworking space offers are:
ONE OF THE 1ST HACKERSPACES FOUNDED
In September 1995 C-base in Berlin, was one the first hackerspaces in the world. In 2002, they made WiFi networks available and promoted free public access to the internet.
As hackerspaces are usually community-oriented, offering a physical location where people can meet and work, they can be considered as one of the first pre-form of coworking spaces.
Brian DeKoven launched the word "coworking" as a way to identify a method that would facilitate collaborative work and business meetings, coordinated by computers.
In 2002 Was official – The First coworking space opens in Vienna – The Schraubenfabrik was firstly called “Unternehmerlnnenzentrum” or “community center for entrepreneurs”
DENMARK'S 1ST COWORKING SPACE
Denmark's 1st coworking space is located in Aarhus and opened on December 1st, 2002
LYNfabriikken (and it means Lightning Factory) so the former factory building tucked away in a charming backyard in the middle of Aarhus is the perfect home for this undertaking. combines a coffee shop with a workspace.
Maybe the local can get us there later, to check how are they’re coworking in Chisinau.
If they say only things that can be found in an office then you got them with the next slide
