A2 Media Studies
   evaluation

In what ways does your media product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions of
              real media products?
My media products are quite conventional as it
stays within the traditional horror roles.
I used young actors, which came across
through the mise en scene; costume was a key
way to portray young characters as well as
language.
My actors wore clothing, which I felt fitted the
lasted trend for example my characters wore a
casual clothing like jeans, a jacket ,and an
snood fits the tend of casual clothing
nowadays. Screen shot of saw a girl is wear a
                                   casual purple dress.
In addition to this the use of informal language
implies to the audience that that characters are
young. Using young actors stays within the
traditional ways of horror as seen in my teaser
trailer research most of characters were young
adults.
The key information including – director, tagline and date of film coming to
cinema. All of the teasers trailers I look at didn’t inform the viewers about
whom the actors were and if they starred in any other films.

Based on this research I used the same type of format because it allow me
to give out key information and as I’m not a professional director who
doesn’t have famous actors that particular information wasn’t necessary as
seen in other teaser trailers.
In addition to this looking at other teaser
trailers within the genre of horror the
majority didn’t use any voice over’s but used
text instead as a way of informing the
viewers about key information. I felt by
using text it was a way for me to conform to
the conventions.
However I didn’t conform to
                               the element of having
                               background I which relates
to the film itself because I
wanted the film poster to be
                               simple but powerful.

I tried to stay within the
genre of horror by trying to
make my photo itself look
quite unnatural .
The use of colours I used is seen to be quite
conventional , through research the use of a
light subtle colours with a quite a dark picture
create quite an eerie look.
Despite creating my own magazine cover
I did try and use the same type of
elements typical magazine covers use.
However I would say magazine cover is
more simple as there is less information
on the cover.

As seen in my research the master
head is quite bright or quite bold so
the use of blue I felt was a good way
for my magazine cover to stay with
                                the conventions.
Music was a good way to keep within convention. For my teaser I use
music from a site called Jamendo as it is a site where you use other
people music copyright free.
I use a quite up beat eerie soundtrack because I wanted to relate my
target audience.

In my first teaser trailer draft I use a dancehall track as well as the eerie
soundtrack. However I felt it didn't t work so by using this soundtrack I
felt I could still relate to my target audience
