The chapter depicts the use of common sense and practical experience to treat the critical condition of a dog called Tricky.

2. James Herriot or James
Alfred Wight was a British
Veterinary Surgeon born
in1916 in
Sunderland,Durham,England.
He is passionate of writing
stories about pet animals.

3.  The story is about a
rich lady Mrs
Pumphrey and her
pet dog Tricki.
 Mrs Pumphrey loved
her dog
unconditionallly and
blindly and thus
provided her
everything the dog
needed.

5. Doctor Herriot was
called who advised
Mrs Pumprey to keep
Tricki in his hospital
for a fortnight.
Mrs Pumphrey had no
other way to agree
with this.She had to
leave her dog for a
period of 2 weeks.
She gave all the stuff
like
bed,bowls,toys,coats,
etc used by the dog.

6. He showed interest in his
surrounding. He was seen fighting
with other dogs for food, ran with
other groups of dogs.

7. After a fortnight Tricki was
completely recovered.
Dr Herriot called Mrs Pumphre y
to receivee her dog.
The reunion between Mrs
Pumphrey and Tricki was really
wonderful. Tears rolled down
from the eyes of the lady.

8. But she said ‘This is a triumph
of Surgery’.
It is well known from the story
that beacause of Mr Herriot’s
experience, practical knowledge
Tricki was recovered from this
critical condition.
