A Trip to simly dam
On 3rd
may 2017 about 8:35am we started our journey I was already there perhaps I
was excited or maybe I wanted to explore, I remember everyone’s face it was as fresh
as flowers; smiles were everywhere when I came to know that two of my best
teachers (Sir Adil and Sir Rizwan) will be leading our way I said to myself it can’t be
better than that lets do it, let’s enjoy every single bit of it with all this excitement we
started to move. We started our journey from Peshawar throughout the way I never
came to know that where we are going I only knew that we are going to Islamabad we
spend most of the time in traveling because the place we were going to was about 19
miles away from main Islamabad city one can say it was a remote area. We reached
there at 1:20pm but I never get bored during the traveling hours the reason for that is
throughout the way there were songs, competitions, poetry, dance and much more
from folks I really enjoyed it. There were some obstacles in our way like some old
bridges which were not in a good condition so the bus driver told us it’s better to walk
on it rather than I drove you out to other side of bridge, I was quickly on my feet and
started to walk with my friends
Picture of the bridge. About 60 feet below there were Dry River full of giant rocks
By the time we reached there the weather was so romantic and enchanting like the
simly dam was happy to have us, to have new visitors full of enthusiasm and peace. I
saw a beautiful tunnel almost 600m away from the back side of the dam.
So finally when we reached there i was tired and dozy but when I came to see the
beautiful lush greenery I suddenly felt life and nature. The dam was surrounded by
green hills like it covered his body with green blanket and in the middle there were
fresh and flowing water. The water stored in this dam is fed by the melting snow and
natural springs of murree hills. With almost half an hour of enjoyment sir Adil
introduced us to the dam officials and he requested them to give us a short demo
about the dam I was standing there not interested at all like other students but
somehow I remember few words the official said ‘’this dam is 80 meters high, it is the
largest reservoir of drinking water to people living in Islamabad. He further said that it
was developed by the capital development authority and it was completed in 1983’’
Now all I wanted was to explore this place so I moved on with folks, smiling and
gossiping around now I can clearly see the back portion of the dam where the majority
of the water stores.
It was very beautiful and peaceful I waited here for almost half an hour. Then we
started to move towards the front view of the dam there were proper road which
helped us to move on to the next beautiful phase. Boating and fishing are the two
main activities here but for fishing you need to have a proper license from Capital
development authority. There is also a guest house which is near to front view of the
dam. At last it was the most beautiful trip I ever had with friends
