Christian Timmerer presented work on developing a test-bed for evaluating the quality of multimedia experience when incorporating sensory effects. They created a sensory effect description language (SEDL) to annotate multimedia with metadata describing sensory effects like light, wind, and vibration. They also developed an annotation tool called SEVino and simulator called SESim. Preliminary tests of their system using various devices found that using average color for automatic lighting effects provided immediate reaction to color changes with low computational requirements.
