This document summarizes the results of a social return on investment (SROI) analysis conducted on two community gardens in Budapest, Hungary called Kék and Kerthatár. The analysis followed the six stages of an SROI assessment: 1) establishing scope and identifying stakeholders; 2) mapping outcomes; 3) evidencing outcomes and assigning monetary values; 4) establishing impact; 5) calculating the SROI ratio; and 6) reporting and embedding findings. Surveys and interviews with stakeholders found several positive social outcomes of participating in the community gardens, including reduced food costs, improved health, skills development, increased social connections and community belonging, and stress relief from urban living. The SROI analysis monetized these outcomes to calculate

The document discusses social return on investment (SROI) and different methods for measuring social impact and return. It provides examples of how SROI has been applied, including measuring the social and financial returns of a social enterprise that employs disabled individuals in landscaping. While SROI aims to objectively measure social impact, it can be resource intensive and not capture all complexities or account for non-monetizable benefits and costs. Other frameworks mentioned include benefit-cost analysis, expected return, and cost per impact.
The document discusses ideas for a video platform called VideoMantra that could help enterprises. It describes using video for improved customer support where customers can upload videos of issues, technical staff can access machine information, and a searchable video library could provide solutions. It also proposes a corporate video wiki, called CorpVideoWiki, where employees can upload training and troubleshooting videos, leave comments, and experts can participate in discussions. Finally, it outlines a larger vision of VideoMantra becoming an open video sharing and learning platform that could transform how companies use video online.

Social Return on Investment - a powerful tool for Project ManagersMinney org Ltd
SROI (Social Return on Investment) demonstrates value for money and can be used both for the business case and for making decisions about go/no go and direction during implementation of a project.
But more than this, it also creates and drives benefits just by measuring.
SROI puts a value on soft benefits. All is explained!
Social Return on Investment (SROI) - a framework for Benefits ManagementMinney org Ltd
This document introduces social return on investment (SROI) as a framework for benefits management. SROI provides a standardized process to quantify social, environmental, and economic outcomes of projects, programs, or organizations. It involves identifying and valuing outcomes for stakeholders, mapping how outcomes are achieved, and calculating a ratio of benefits to costs. The document outlines when SROI is useful, principles of the approach, the six-step process, and examples of how SROI has been applied to evaluate family rehabilitation services, corporate social responsibility initiatives, and user experience audits. SROI aims to capture both financial and non-financial benefits in a rigorous yet transparent way to inform management decisions.
The document discusses social return on investment (SROI) and its application to the askTheSite service. SROI allows monetary values to be assigned to social impacts and expressed as a ratio to costs. YouthNet calculated that for every £1 invested in askTheSite, there was a social return of £7.38 based on analyzing costs, outputs, outcomes and impacts. The process involved identifying monetary values for impacts like reduced health costs, increased earnings and benefits saved. While making big assumptions, the SROI model demonstrates askTheSite's value to funders and can be adapted to other YouthNet services.
This document discusses operationalizing social return on investment (SROI) for advice services. SROI is an outcomes-based evaluation method that assigns financial values to social, environmental, and economic outcomes to calculate a ratio of benefits to costs. The document discusses:
1) Applying SROI methodology through client interviews to map outcomes and assign values while accounting for attribution, deadweight, and drop-off.
2) Challenges with high costs of SROI for casework services given the variety of unique outcomes for each client. Standardized impact maps may help address this.
3) Issues with stakeholder perspectives influencing the valuation of outcomes and challenges drawing boundaries around stakeholders.
4) Adapting research tools

This document discusses solid waste management in India. It begins by quoting Pope Francis and the Prime Minister of India on the importance of caring for the environment. It then notes that India generates much more solid waste now than in 1947 due to increasing urbanization and consumerism. Most waste remains uncollected and is dumped in unsanitary landfills, polluting the environment. The document advocates for segregating waste at the source into wet and dry categories. It explains the benefits of this practice, such as reducing waste and producing compost. It provides resources for housing societies to implement zero waste programs and encourages citizens to work towards cleaner communities.

Ch 6 - Experiences living in diverse societyLEEENNA
Living in a diverse society can have both positive and negative experiences and effects. Positively, diversity provides opportunities for meaningful interactions between groups through common spaces and results in cultural exchange and sharing of skills and knowledge. However, diversity also presents challenges like prejudice from lack of understanding and perceptions of competition over resources impacting standards of living and social mobility. The government aims to strengthen interactions and address these challenges through policies promoting skills upgrading, meritocracy, and social programs.
Volunteer students organized a clean-up event in their neighborhood on May 6th as part of a project to raise environmental awareness. The goal was to educate students and the local community about environmental problems and encourage daily actions to improve the local environment. The students developed a new respect for their community and sense of pride after cleaning up. Volunteering helps improve lives and communities while also giving volunteers a greater sense of belonging. Keeping cities clean is important for public health, tourism, and future generations. Effective ways to do so include proper trash disposal and educating others.
The document describes the Kids Eco Clubs program started by Infant Jesus Church in Jogeshwari-East in October 2015. The program is run through the church's 18 Small Christian Communities (SCCs), with 10 SCCs currently operating Kids Eco Clubs. Each club has 20 kids aged 5-11th grade and is guided by 1-2 animators. Meetings are held monthly to plan environmental projects. Examples of past projects include competitions and awareness campaigns on issues like pollution. Performance is evaluated based on attendance and project participation. Top performers receive awards annually during an Environmental Rally event involving performances, pamphlet distribution, and a nature walk.
The document announces an elocution contest for children registered in the ECO KIDS program to give speeches on environmental topics at the community and parish levels, provides the rules for participation including speech length and preparation guidelines, and includes a sign-up form for children to register for the finals.
This document provides a summary and guidelines for setting up a community garden. It discusses identifying a space for the garden, whether it should be temporary or permanent, designing the garden's purpose and function, involving the community, and educational opportunities. The goal is to help people create their own local community gardens through sharing knowledge and connecting individuals. Permission may be needed from local councils depending on the garden's location. The document provides questions to consider for the garden's design and ensuring it is welcoming and accessible to the community.
This document provides instructions for starting a Natueco city farm. It begins with choosing a site that gets sunlight, has good drainage and ventilation, and is easily accessible. Materials needed include aerated containers, biomass from surrounding plants, cow dung and urine, topsoil, and equipment to make Amrut Jal and compost heaps. The main focus is building nutrient-rich Amrut Mitti soil by collecting biomass and topsoil, preparing Amrut Jal, and allowing the mixture to compost before use. Proper planting, maintaining soil quality by recycling kitchen waste, and understanding common modifications are also covered.
The document discusses the concept of sustainable living and ecological footprints. It notes that human lifestyles and consumption patterns are negatively impacting the environment. However, making sustainable choices in our daily lives, such as reducing waste and emissions, can help minimize this impact. It then provides a quiz to calculate an individual's ecological footprint based on lifestyle habits and identifies areas where changes could lower one's footprint.
This document discusses the problem of household waste disposal and proposes solutions through an initiative called SAPNE. It notes there are 10 dangerous waste collection spots in one lane that could spread diseases if not addressed. SAPNE's aims are to clean up these spots, install garbage collection boxes, raise awareness of the issue, and potentially issue fines to reduce littering. The overall goal is to create a cleaner and greener environment.
The document summarizes the efforts of a group called "I CAN EKLAVYA" to address garbage issues in the Mangnath Road shopping area. The group observed large amounts of mixed garbage with no garbage bins. They proposed solutions like banning plastic, providing separate bins for biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste, and using biodegradable waste for energy. The group then held an awareness campaign in local shops to educate about garbage sorting and reducing plastic use, encouraging people to be the change for a cleaner city.
Let Us Compost has been providing curbside composting services in Athens, Georgia since 2012. They collect food scraps and other compostable materials from residential and commercial customers, and partner with a local composting facility to process the materials. Let Us Compost generates revenue through subscription services, compost sales, and zero-waste event services. The business has grown steadily since starting and has goals to continue expanding its customer base and composting volumes over the next few years.
While people in Europe have more material goods like food, clothing, cars and larger homes, and work fewer hours, happiness has not increased accordingly. Research shows that beyond a threshold for meeting basic needs, further economic and material growth do not generate more well-being. Overconsumption is putting pressure on the environment, with food, private transportation and housing responsible for 70-80% of Europe's environmental impacts. There are signs that Europeans are increasingly interested in health, the environment and sustainable living.
Through this presentation, I have tried to highlight the lifestyle of the inhabitants of my city that are in line with the concept of sustainable development. I have also identified the actions that are not in line with sustainable development and can be improved upon.

A Guide to AI for Smarter Nonprofits - Dr. Cori Faklaris, UNC CharlotteCori Faklaris
Working with data is a challenge for many organizations. Nonprofits in particular may need to collect and analyze sensitive, incomplete, and/or biased historical data about people. In this talk, Dr. Cori Faklaris of UNC Charlotte provides an overview of current AI capabilities and weaknesses to consider when integrating current AI technologies into the data workflow. The talk is organized around three takeaways: (1) For better or sometimes worse, AI provides you with “infinite interns.” (2) Give people permission & guardrails to learn what works with these “interns” and what doesn’t. (3) Create a roadmap for adding in more AI to assist nonprofit work, along with strategies for bias mitigation.

22. When people put so much
efforts to grow their own
food…they can see how
much work there is
b e h i n d a n y s i n g l e
pees….so they became
more aware about what
they eat, how much food
they waste…

23. I
Urban gardening can give you a
feeling of the nature…it can help
you to escape from the
stress of everyday life.
You know… most people
live in big cities so we have
to found new ways to change
these cities and preserve our
connection with the land, a
connection with the
environment
KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6
24. “When I moved to Budapest I
know I needed more people
around me. Since I became
gardening, I have made new
friends and we call each other,
we speak on the phone.
Normally, I would have never
meet some of them but now we
have something in common…a
common purpose… “
KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6
25. My main goal
actually is to show
that living in a city
can look different
than just working
and going to clubs.
you can enjoy more
your life in this way. !
KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6
26. Especially younger generations should have
some alternatives to clubbing, drinking and
getting polluted…Gardening is all these
together.
KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6
27. For me community
gardening means taking
part to the urban renewal of
Budapest. Leonardo is a
green oasis in a depressed
neighbourhood…. and for
me preserving this area has
a lot of value
KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6
28. The first thing that comes to
mind…. is the urban
renewal of Budapest..I
mean….to be able to maintain
a green space in the heart of
Budapest. The second is taking
part to the community
life… being part of a
community of people who
share similar interests. Also,
the healthy veg that I take
home… and then it's so nice to
go out…to spend a sunny day
in a green place….
KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6
29. You have a direct relationship with the
nature and so with the climate… you
learn to see how plantsreact to
changing climate
conditions. And I'm happy because
when you live in a big city you usually
don't not have this perception of
the nature….
