Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was an Indian scientist and politician who served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He was born in 1931 in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu and received his education from St. Joseph's College and the Madras Institute of Technology. Kalam had a long career as a scientist and worked with DRDO and ISRO, making major contributions to India's civilian space program and military missile development efforts. He received numerous prestigious awards and honors and was popularly known as the "Missile Man of India" for his work on India's missile projects.
