1777
Turn of the
18th-19th century
1950
Founded by Péter Pázmány, the Archbishop of Esztergom
Moved from Nagyszombat (Trnava) to Buda, then to Pest
ELTE is among the 15 largest universities in the world
Adopted the name of Loránd Eötvös (1848-1919)
