The boy was embarrassed by his mother who had only one eye and worked hard to support them. He was mean and resentful towards her. After growing up and having his own family, his mother came to visit but he was still ashamed and cruel to her. He later learns that she had given him her eye when he was young so he wouldn't have to grow up with only one eye. Overcome with guilt and remorse for his actions, he realizes how much his mother had sacrificed and loved him.
