innovative behavioural training safety solutions. This also applies to improving employee’s
ability to react correctly and deal effectively with emergency incidents.
Engaged - Azea was commissioned by one of its large construction and utility clients to try and
improve their existing safety record by evaluating their emergency response actions to an
incident (in this case it was ‘Tower Rescue’ for working at heights).
The client wanted to improve their employee’s ability to plan and then action emergency
responses should an incident occur on site. This was carried out as part of their ‘Zero Harm’
campaign.
What they know - In relation to behaviour, we design our Emergency Response Evaluations so
that the employees can be tested in as much of a ‘real life’ situation as possible. Only three
managers knew about the planned exercise and the impact that it had on the company was
hugely positive.
All of our emergency response evaluation sessions are designed around the fact that it benefits
the employees and the companies to be prepared to deal with ‘real life’ factors that are often
not included within a standard training package.

happen in ‘real life’?
Thought 2 - Have they received quality accredited training so they can confidently
react in a real time situation?
Free advice - A successful Emergency Response Evaluation should take into account
the following factors.
• Have you REALLY looked at how you can train employees where possible, ‘on site’, as
this is where they will be dealing with any incidents?
• Have you REALLY assessed if your employees are confident to react correctly to
emergencies?
• Have you REALLY delivered job specific training and dealt with how people think and
act? All our training is about engaging them in a way that by the end of the
course, they can confidently carry out treatment in a pressurised situation.
