The chemistry flight as0729 performed on the 16th of July 2007, between 14h20 and 16h20 local time was dedicated to pollution tracking above the Moldavia province in Romania. We wanted to explore two urban agglomerations: Iasi (47´09N; 27´37E) and Roman (46´55N; 26´54E) distant about 50 km from one another in straight line. Industrial zones are implanted in these areas. We went to explore the vertical distribution of the pollutants above these two areas. Moreover, a European road passes by the north of the two cities. We also went to track traffic emissions. Trace gas species measured during the flight were NOx, O3 and CO. Our goal is to establish the lower troposphere distribution of these pollutants in the area, in order to evaluate the photochemical production of ozone in an urban/industrial plume. The aim of our experimental strategy is to cover a horizontal and vertical dimension of the region.

The purpose of this study is to introduce specific areas around the riverbeds of the urban hidden streams in the city of Athens presenting high risk in terms of ground subsidence. The study area comprises the centre of Athens and more specifically the Municipalities of Athens, Tavros, Kallithea, Daphne, Hymettus and Ilisia where the ancient rivers of Ilissos and Eridanus naturally flow through a heavily populated city. It wasn’t until the early 1960s that the two rivers were completely channeled and partly covered along their course during the urbanization process which allowed the construction of the modern boulevards, roads, recreation and open space areas as long as parking areas. The route of today's concealed rivers and streams poses a serious risk of potential ground subsidence concerning the erosion of streams’ bank permeable soil formations. Following this approach, areas of influence (buffer zones) were determined on each side of the subterranean urban rivers Ilissos and Eridanus. In particular, an inventory of literature and references such as, historical maps and drawings, technical studies as well as modern topographic and geological maps, land use / land cover maps was created and collected in a geospatial database. It is worth mentioning that a main part of this study was the utilization and analysis of satellite radar data of the time period 2012-2016, in order to detect vertical displacements (mm/year) and correlate these with the above-mentioned spatial data of Athens city

Ultra high energy cosmic rays are the most extreme energetic subatomic particles
in nature. Coming from the outer space, these particles initiate extensive air showers (EAS) in
the Earth’s atmosphere. The generated EAS produce elusive radio-transients in the MHz frequency
band measured by sensitive antenna arrays and radio telescopes. Theoretical developments indicate
that the EAS radio wavefront shape depends on the shower longitudinal development, it is waited
that the wavefront curved shape provides information to answer many fundamental questions about
UHECR nature and origins. In the first part of this paper, we report on an investigation in the
wavefront shape, based on an already published sample of events collected between November
2006 and January 2010 at the CODALEMA II experiment located in the radioastronomy facility at
Nançay in France. We find that measurements of individual air showers have been conclusive for
a non-planar shape which could be hyperbolical (further analysis are needed). By cons and in the
second part of this paper, a spherical shape of the wavefront for the anthropic radio-sources has been
proposed. Many studies have shown the strong dependence of the solution of the radio-transient
sources localization problem (the radio wavefront time of arrival on antennas TOA), such solutions
are purely numerical artifacts. Based on a detailed analysis of some published results of radio-
detection experiments around the world like : CODALEMA III in France, AERA in Argentina,
TREND in China and LUNASKA in Australia, we demonstrate the ill-posed character of this
problem in the sense of Hadamard. To support the mathematical studies, a comparison between the
experimental results and the simulations have been made.
In March, the U.S. Department of Energy released data recorded from its Aerial Measuring System as well as ground detectors deployed along with its Consequence Management Response Teams. Today, the Department provided the following update on the information gathered by the AMS. This is the second round of data that was collected and analyzed jointly with the Government of Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
