COMM 1001: Week 4 Assignment Worksheet
(Part 1 of your Week 5 Perception Paper)
Directions: Please save the document to your own computer using the naming convention "COMMWK4Assgn+last name+first
initial" as the Submission Title. The file name identifies you and indicates to your instructor that your worksheet is available to grade.
Please fill in the answers in the boxes provided by TYPING in your answers. If you need more space than is provided, the box will
expand as you write. So, no need to worry about space. Do not write your answers in a separate document because your instructor
uses the rubric after each question to grade that section of this worksheet. You may use the rubric as a guide to make sure you
completed that question correctly. Then, please submit this worksheet to the regular Week 4 Assignment submission link in the
classroom.
Section 1. Introduction
Using the directions in the blue part of each box, write an introduction for your week 5 full paper in the boxes below. Be sure to
follow the directions in each box.
First write a sentence (or more if needed) to gradually introduce your reader to the topic of perception. Try to be creative and
original. For instance, you could tell a brief story about how perception played a role in a situation from your own life.
Perception can affect how most of us react to others or give us preconceived notion about others. I tend to base
my perception of other on how I respond to any given situation. The way I was raised, my job duties, and my
personal life all have a great impact on how I perceive others.
The second part of a proper introduction is a thesis or purpose statement. In this worksheet, we will give you
the thesis. In your paper next week, you may choose to use this thesis or write your own. A possible thesis
for this paper would be:
This paper will help me to understand how perception works through doing an analysis of what three observers
declared were their perceptions of a photograph.
Finally, write a sentence or two that previews what your three main points for this paper will be. You have already been given
the three main points. They are:
1) Explanation of the steps of the perception process.
2) Description of your observers and how their background might affect their perception of the world.
3) Analysis of the observers’ descriptions of the photo.
Here is an example of a good preview of these three main points:

Perception is to know and understand something through the ability to hear, see, or become aware of something through the senses. It can influence how most people react towards others. This document contains guidance for analyzing statistical data and films. For statistical analysis, it recommends identifying variable levels, calculating descriptive statistics, and testing differences between groups. For film analysis, it advises against simply summarizing plots and instead to analyze themes, images, and how elements work together artistically. It provides tips on developing an argument and using examples to support ideas.
This document provides an overview of how to foster and manage collaboration in online courses. It discusses four phases of learner engagement: newcomer, cooperator, collaborator, and initiator/partner. For each phase, it provides examples of activities instructors can use, such as icebreakers for newcomers, peer reviews for cooperators, group projects for collaborators, and learner-led discussions for initiators/partners. It emphasizes the importance of clear instructions, examples, and adequate time for planning learner-led activities.

The document provides guidelines for conducting empathy interviews and creating empathy maps and problem statements as part of the design thinking process. It outlines best practices for interviewing such as asking open-ended questions, following up with "why" to get deeper insights, and listening more than talking. It also provides tips for creating empathy maps such as making inferences about people's thoughts and feelings based on their words. Finally, it instructs how to write problem statements in a specific format that identifies a stakeholder's need and provides insight into the root cause based on the empathy map. The overall goal is to understand people's perspectives through interviews and define problems related to redesigning the school-to-work transition.

This document provides guidance on effective paragraph structure for sociology assignments. It recommends: [1] Mapping out a clear structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion; [2] Stating the purpose and link to the question for each paragraph; [3] Presenting and explaining the main point; [4] Illustrating the point with evidence; [5] Evaluating the point when possible; and [6] Linking back to the overall question. An example paragraph is provided to demonstrate these components.
This document discusses formative assessments and provides examples of different types of formative assessments that teachers can use in the classroom. It defines formative assessments as tools used by teachers to provide feedback to students and guide instruction, as opposed to summative assessments which are used to assign grades. It then provides over 30 specific examples of formative assessment strategies that teachers can implement, such as exit slips, think-pair-shares, drawing diagrams, and student self-assessments. The purpose of formative assessments is to check student understanding on a daily basis and allow teachers to adjust their instruction accordingly.
The College & Career Readiness & College Completion Act was signed by the Governor of Maryland in 2013. Hopefully, in a few years’ time college instructors will find that the students entering their classes are better prepared. But what do we do in the meantime? The ability to embed student success skills into the course curriculum is essential so that students can develop techniques that will improve their chances of success throughout their college career.
The following topics were shared during the presentation: concept mapping, critical thinking, tips for proper reading of a textbook, time management, notetaking tips, how to condense information covered in class, and how to research and write a paper.
The challenge of teaching student success skills during the semester is that of completing all required course information at the same time. Participants were asked to discuss potential methods of creating time within their courses so that student success techniques could be taught.

This document provides guidance on organizing and delivering an impromptu speech. It discusses the key features of an impromptu speech, including having little preparation time. It then outlines strategies for organizing an impromptu speech, such as using the past-present-future framework or a point-reason-example structure. The document also provides tips for effective speech delivery, including establishing eye contact, using transitional phrases, and observing time limits. The overall purpose is to help readers understand how to effectively prepare and present an impromptu speech with little advance notice.
This document provides an agenda for outlining a persuasive essay about a problem in education. It reviews the essay assignment, which asks students to define an education problem by describing its causes and consequences without proposing a solution. Key points include developing an informative thesis statement about the problem's causes and effects, using strategies like specific examples and statistics to support the discussion of causes and consequences, and concluding by restating the problem and calling readers to acknowledge its importance. Students are instructed to create a one-page outline for the essay, including a source quotation and citation. The homework is to post the outline online for peer review.

Journal Entries: Format and Grading Criteria
Points: /100 points
Following specific in-class exercises (see Syllabus for Learning Journal Activities) you will choose one of the LJ activities and write a 3-6 page journal entry. This assignment is your way of reflecting and commenting on the experience. The format is designed to mirror the learning process, making you conscious of each element as you work to actively learn from the class or group exercises. The following questions should be used as a guide for structuring your journal entries; however the content of each entry is up to you. That is, which elements of an exercise you choose to address depend upon what you feel was most important, interesting, and/or surprising about the experience.
I. CONCRETE EXPERIENCE Exercise Description: What happened during the experience?
Does this section contain a clear, objective description of the exercise? (e.g., as if describing to others)
Does it contain a subjective description of feelings and perceptions that occurred during the experience?
Does it provide too much irrelevant detail? This section should not be longer than 1-2 paragraphs
II. REFLECTIVE OBSERVATION Themes: Upon further review, what seemed to be happening?
Does this section look at the experience from the different points of view of the major actors involved?
Did you attempt to figure out why the people involved, and you in particular, behaved as they did?
Did you make use of verbal and non-v.

Drafting Your Essay
This assignment requires two paragraphs. Each paragraph
employs a pattern of development that was covered in the
reading for this lesson. If you’re not familiar with narration,
description, or process analysis, you should review the
required reading for Lesson 4.
For your first paragraph, use the narrative and description
techniques you learned in this lesson to describe daily activi-
ties. You’ll write about the activities you dedicate your time
to: schoolwork, family responsibilities, and your job. Don’t
forget to include other pursuits such as hobbies, sports, and
volunteer and social activities. Since this is your prewriting,
write as much as you can, up to 500 word
In your second paragraph, focus on how you manage your
time to accomplish everything you need and want to. For this
paragraph, use process analysis to explain how you manage
your time. Consider the tools you employ such as a planner or
calendar, whether paper or electronic, or even a chart or list.
Again, write as much as you want, up to 500 words, to clearly
illustrate your process for managing your busy schedule.
This is an example of what the
description
portion might
look like:
My name is Jean. I am in my mid-forties, and I would
never have expected that I would one day have so many
different hats to wear. My husband thought it was a great
idea; he knew that I always wanted to be a real nurse and
that if we hadn’t gotten married so young and I hadn’t put
him through school that I would have been one. He was
so encouraging about it in the beginning. The boys
thought it was cool too; they both said it was going to be
fun to have to nag me to do my homework for a change.
So finally, with my family’s blessing, I decided to go back
to school to get a degree in nursing. When I made the
decision, everyone in my family agreed to do their part to
make sure I would have time to study and get through the
exams successfully. But now, a few months into school,
when I come home from my full-time job as a nurse’s aide
and take off that hat, it seems as though my day has
barely started. With two teenage children living at home, I
must put on my mother’s hat and enforce household
rules, dispense of advice, help with homework, and occa-
sionally provide a shoulder to cry on. Before my husband
comes home from his job, I have to pop on my chef’s hat
and get dinner started; the maid’s hat will come ou.

The document provides guidance on completing a self-evaluation and development plan for mentors. It instructs mentors to describe their current mentoring practices, goals for development, and specific steps to achieve desired practices. An example is provided where the mentor describes their current lesson observation process, goals to improve by adding questions for mentees and modifying forms, and steps to meet with colleagues and mentees to make changes. The mentor also explains their follow-up process and goals to use more positive language when providing feedback, with steps to practice these discussion techniques.
This document provides a research-based lesson planning guide for teaching students to make inferences when reading. The 5-day mini-lesson includes: 1) Explicit instruction on inference strategies and vocabulary. 2) Modeling inferences using sample texts. 3) Guided practice making inferences from passages, pictures, and ads. 4) Independent practice making character and advertisement inferences. 5) An assessment game to review making inferences about characters. The goal is for students to determine implicit ideas and draw conclusions beyond what is directly stated in a text.
The document provides instructions for a portfolio midterm with three sections. Section one involves writing an intention statement for the class and college education. Section two includes three learning style inventories - VARK, Myers-Briggs, and True Colors - where the student analyzes their results and answers questions. Section three is an emotional intelligence activity where the student reflects on typical college situations and the lessons learned from emotional responses.

For this Portfolio Project, you will write a paper about John A.docxevonnehoggarth79783
For this Portfolio Project, you will write a paper about "John Adams" as well as any event in U.S. history that is relevant to your major area of study or of interest to you. You will write about John Adams from the perspective of another historical personality who lived at the same time as the person or event you are going to describe.
For your historical personality, try to select someone from an under-represented population (examples of possible perspectives include that of Anne Hutchinson, Pocahontas, or Sojourner Truth). This analysis is to make you think about how events/people’s actions were interpreted at the time.
Key Points::
Remember that you will be writing from the perspective of a historical person about another person or an event from a period of U.S. history up to Reconstruction. From your historical person’s perspective, provide a thorough summary of the person or event you’ve chosen to write about, including the incidents that took place and any key individuals involved or affected.
Address the general importance of the person or event in the context of U.S. history.
Now, explain specifically how the person or event changed “your” daily life—“you” being the historical persona you have adopted.
Think long-term: How will the person or the event you are describing make a long-term impact in the lives of people who are in the under-represented group to which your historical person/perspective belongs?
Paper Requirements:
Your paper must be four to six pages, not including the required references and title pages.
Use at least five sources, not including the textbook. Include a scholarly journal article. Include at least one
primary
source from those identified in the syllabus.
Definition of a Primary Source
: A primary source is any source, document or artifact that was created at the time of the event. It was usually created by someone who witnessed the event, lived during or even shortly afterwards, or somehow would have first-hand knowledge of that event. A secondary source, by contrast, is written by a historian or someone writing about the event after it happened.
Have an introduction and strong thesis statement. Make use of support and examples supporting your thesis
Finish with a forceful conclusion reiterating your main idea.
Format your paper according to the
CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA Requirements
(Links to an external site.)

Elena pezzi mentoring in schools self-evaluation -m3Elena Pezzi

Key Points::

How did the regulations you've studied over the past few chapters and in the Financial Crisis Chapter (Chapter 12) prepare banks and other financial institutions to better weather the effects of the stay-at-home orders and other impacts of the pandemic? Are there other regulations that could be placed on the banking industry that would make sense and help them through these trying times?

For this paper choose two mythological narratives that we have exami.docxevonnehoggarth79783
For this paper choose two mythological narratives that we have examined so far in this course, or that you are otherwise personally familiar with. The two myths that you choose should have one or more elements in common, possibly including (but not limited to):
Overarching story (e.g., creation, flood) or story elements (e.g., descent into the underworld, establishment of divine rulership, rapture of mortals by gods, divine disguise)
Narrative structure (e.g., repetitive patterns, discursion)
Themes (e.g., love, jealousy, mortality, revenge, mutability/transformation, limits of human power/knowledge)
Characters (e.g., tricksters)
Cultural functions (e.g., reinforcement of societal norms, explanation of origins of society, explanation of natural phenomena, incorporation in ritual practices, entertainment)
Compare and contrast the two myths you choose, taking into consideration the various elements noted above and any others you deem relevant. (In making comparisons, you do not necessarily need to apply the specifically "comparativist" approach discussed in the course as one historical strand of mythological analysis.)
While you are welcome to reference external sources, this is not a research paper and the use of secondary sources is not required or expected. If you choose to examine a myth not discussed in the course, however, please indicate the source from which you have taken this.

1. Some common stereotypes that coincide with the LGBTQ community are promiscuous, non-religious, flamboyant, mentally ill, high sex drives, etc.
2. The media plays a role in establishing these stereotypes because the general public is always watching these shows, reading the news, and listening to stories about different cultures and groups and media that they may not see or interact with in their lives. Therefore, media is an outlet to show these things in a easy way to gain knowledge about people without meeting people face-to-face apart of these groups when sometimes the stereotypes shown can't represent everyone in those groups.

Martin is a 21 year-old business major at a large university. Over the past few weeks his family and friends have noticed increasingly bizarre behaviors. On many occasions they’ve overheard him whispering in an agitated voice, even though there is no one nearby. Lately, he has refused to answer or make calls on his cell phone, claiming that if he does it will activate a deadly chip that was implanted in his brain by evil aliens. His parents have tried to get him to go with them to a psychiatrist for an evaluation, but he refuses. He has accused them on several occasions of conspiring with the aliens to have him killed so they can remove his brain and put it inside one of their own. He has stopped attended classes altogether. He is now so far behind in his coursework that he will fail if something doesn’t change very soon. Although Martin occasionally has a few beers with his friends, he’s never been known to abuse alcohol or use drugs. He does, however, have an estranged aunt who has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals over the years due to erratic and bizarre behavior.
The Psychological disorder is: SCHIZOPHRENIA

For this assignment, you will be studying a story from the Gospe.docxevonnehoggarth79783
Jesus visited Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-42. The passage describes Mary sitting at Jesus' feet listening to his teaching while Martha was distracted by her household duties. Jesus affirmed Mary's choice to listen to him over working, showing the importance of prioritizing time with God over other tasks.
For this assignment, you will discuss how you see the Design Princip.docxevonnehoggarth79783
For this assignment, you will discuss how you see the Design Principles used in a 2D print. You can select a 2D print from your home, workplace, or use the CSU Art Appreciation LibGuide to find a print in an online museum. Take a photograph of the print or save an image of the print, and include it in the worksheet. In Unit II, our assignment was to describe an artwork using the Visual Elements. We can think of the Design Principles as a way that the artist organized the Visual Elements. Instead of focusing on the small parts of the artwork (like line, shape, and mass) the Design Principles look at the whole artwork and how all the elements work together. Provide a detailed description of the design principles in your 2D print, using full and complete sentences. For Design Principles, make sure you describe how the artist used the ones in Chapter 5: unity and variety, balance, emphasis, repetition and rhythm, and scale and proportion. Questions to consider are included below:
Unity: what elements work together to make a harmonious whole?
Variety: What creates diversity?
Balance: Is it symmetrical or asymmetrical?
Emphasis: What is the focal point?
Repetition and rhythm: Is an element repeated?
Scale and proportion: Are the objects in proportion to each other?
Be sure to describe exactly where in the artwork you see each Principle. You'll want to describe each artwork using the terms we learned in this unit's reading. Remember to write in complete sentences and use proper grammar.

COMM 1001: Week 4 Assignment Worksheet
(Part 1 of your Week 5 Perception Paper)
Directions: Please save the document to your own computer
using the naming convention "COMMWK4Assgn+last
name+first
initial" as the Submission Title. The file name identifies you
and indicates to your instructor that your worksheet is available
to grade.
Please fill in the answers in the boxes provided by TYPING in
your answers. If you need more space than is provided, the box
will
2. expand as you write. So, no need to worry about space. Do not
write your answers in a separate document because your
instructor
uses the rubric after each question to grade that section of this
worksheet. You may use the rubric as a guide to make sure you
completed that question correctly. Then, please submit this
worksheet to the regular Week 4 Assignment submission link in
the
classroom.
Section 1. Introduction
Using the directions in the blue part of each box, write an
introduction for your week 5 full paper in the boxes below. Be
sure to
follow the directions in each box.
First write a sentence (or more if needed) to gradually introduce
your reader to the topic of perception. Try to be creative and
original. For instance, you could tell a brief story about how
perception played a role in a situation from your own life.
Perception can affect how most of us react to others or give us
preconceived notion about others. I tend to base
my perception of other on how I respond to any given situation.
The way I was raised, my job duties, and my
3. personal life all have a great impact on how I perceive others.
The second part of a proper introduction is a thesis or purpose
statement. In this worksheet, we will give you
the thesis. In your paper next week, you may choose to use this
thesis or write your own. A possible thesis
for this paper would be:
This paper will help me to understand how perception works
through doing an analysis of what three observers
declared were their perceptions of a photograph.
Finally, write a sentence or two that previews what your three
main points for this paper will be. You have already been given
the three main points. They are:
1) Explanation of the steps of the perception process.
2) Description of your observers and how their background
might affect their perception of the world.
3) Analysis of the observers’ descriptions of the photo.
Here is an example of a good preview of these three main
points:
4. In this paper, first I will explain the three step process of
perception; second, I will provide a description of my three
observers complete with an explanation as to how their
backgrounds might affect their perceptions of the world.
Finally, I will delve deeper into what these observers had to say
about the photograph I showed them by analyzing their
perceptions.
In space below, write a preview of main points in your own
words.
In this paper I will first describe the three steps to the
perception process: selecting, organizing, and interpreting.
Second, a description of my three observers will help
demonstrate how different backgrounds might affect
peoples’ perceptions. Finally, I will analyze what my observers
said about the photograph to give you a better
understanding of how the perception process works for different
people.

Section 2. Outline
There are a number of ways to outline a paper, and the Walden
Writing Center has a page dedicated to this if you want to learn
more:
http://writingcenter.waldenu.edu/318.htm. Below you will be
taken through a step by step process to “fill in” sections of an
outline in
6. the boxes below. Of course most outlines won’t look like this
(no boxes and no instructions on exactly what should go where),
but
hopefully this will give you an idea of how an outline should
look so that you can use the idea of outlining in your future p
apers.
Please be sure to write in complete sentences in the designated
boxes below.
Outlines will normally use Roman Numerals (I, II, III and so
forth). After the numbers, letters are used (A, B, C and so
forth). Basic
rules say that if you have a “I”, then you need to have a “II,”
and if you have an “A,” then you must have a “B.” We will
follow this
format:
I. Introduction
II. Body
III. Conclusion
So, you already have the first section, the introduction, of this
outline done. Below you will “fill-in” some parts about the
“body” of
the outline. The “body” refers to the majority of the paper. Be
sure to follow the directions within each box.
II. Body
7. A. Main Point#1: Explanation of the steps of the perception
process.
As described in Figure 3-1 in your textbook, explain the 3 steps
of the perception process and give your own example for each
of the steps involved.
In the spaces below, please give an abbreviated version of what
you might write in the full paper for this section. For instance,
you can just list the steps and give a one sentence description of
your own example of each step. Remember, the boxes will
expand as you write, so you do not need to worry about using
only the space provided.
Step #1:
We observe what is around us, what music may have been
playing, or whether it was cold or hot in the room.
This is the first step in perception, also known as selection,
“focusing on some sensory stimuli rather than others”
(Dobkin & Pace, 2006, p. 69). Submitting stimuli to memory
will help us organize our preconception of an event.
Step #2:
Organization is the second step in perception, “Organization
occurs when we place stimuli in a category or mental
box to give them meaning and aid our retention” (Dobkin &
8. Pace, 2006, p. 74). I plan to give an example of how I
use organization to help me remember directions. I organize
different stimuli to help me remember how to get
somewhere.
http://writingcenter.waldenu.edu/318.htm
Step #3:
We often interpret situations in order to give the situation
meaning. “Interpretation is the stage of the perception
process in which we determine the meaning of an event or
interaction” (Dobkin & Pace, 2006, p. 80). When we
walk into a room and there are balloons, streamers and a
birthday cake, we have automatically interpreted the
situation as “it’s a birthday party” based on the stimuli that is in
the room.

B. Main Point #2: Description of your observers and how their
background might affect their perception of the world.
In the spaces below, please list your observers and describe the
following:
Their relationship to you (for example: mom, dad, friend, co-
worker, etc.), their sex, their age, their occupation or work
situation, a brief description of their overall attitude in life, and
any other things you think are important to know about the
person.
Then, please give a 1-2 sentence description for each person on
how you think the background information you listed would
make them perceive the world in a certain way. In the full
paper, you can provide more detail.
Observer #1:
Observer 1 is Kimberly. She is a co-worker as well as a friend.
Kim is a 42 year old female and her profession is
Site Director. Kim is what I would call a free spirit. Since Kim
is such a free spirit, she seems to view the world
as an opportunity to learn something new each day, but she can
at times be closed minded.
10. Observer #2:
Observer 2 is my twin sister, Rebecca. She is a 40 year old
female and she works a 911 dispatcher for a city in
CA. Rebecca handles her job with great ease and always
remains professional and calm when taking 911 calls.
She is one of the most grounded people I know. Rebecca’s
perspective on life is, “If you can’t change it, then
why should I let it occupy my thoughts.” I often say Rebecca
see’s things the way a man would; she looks for
the solution rather than get caught up in the drama of the
situation.
Observer #3:
Observer 3 is my friend Kelly. She is a 40 year old female and
she owns her own vacation rental business. Kelly
is also a mother to a 7 year old girl. She had been married for
15 years. She is very strong willed and doesn’t
have much time for nuisances. She can become easily irritated
by people who can’t make up their minds and
by people who are rude.

observers? ______/15 points (5 points per

C. Main Point #3: Analysis of the observers’ descriptions of the
photo.
At the end of this worksheet is a grid called the “Perception
Analysis Grid.” You can use this to help you organize your
observers’ descriptive words and use it to complete this section.
It is there just as a tool to help you, you are not required to use
it.
Select one term from each category (Selecting, Organizing and
Interpreting—3 terms total) listed below that you plan to
talk about in your analysis about your observers’ descriptions of
the photo.
1. Please list the term you chose in each category.
2. Provide the word or phrase from at least one observer that
12. fits with that term. Be sure to choose a different word
from a different observer in each category.
3. Then provide a full sentence explanation of how you plan to
apply the term to the word or phrase from your
observer. In other words, provide a specific example.
For example (you may NOT use this example):
Salience, “big veins”
My observer #1 used the phrase “big veins” to describe the man
in the photo. Observer #1 works in the field of
nursing and is required to insert IV’s regularly. Thus, I chose to
use the term “salience” to describe why she used
the phrase “big veins” because her regular work with veins
means the man’s big veins were “salient” to her.
In the full paper, then, you will also include the definition of
the term AND give credit to the textbook for that definition.
Selecting: Choose from these terms: • salience • vividness •
social learning •
Vividness: Rebecca used words/phrases like “green grass,”
“tree,” “blue jeans,” “brown shirt,” “dark
skin,” and “grey hair.” I plan to explain how in her job as a 911
operator she need to have people
describe things vividly to her, hence why she was vivid in her
own descriptions.
13. Organizing: Choose from these terms: • stereotype • prototype •
scripts • personal construct • perception shifts •
Personal Construct: Kim used the words “contemplating” and
“observant.” She is also this way and so I think
she identified with the man in the photo. So, I plan to explain
how because she used these words that have
often been used to describe her, she was using a personal
construct because she could have used opposite
words.
Interpreting: Choose from these terms: • assigning attributions •
biases in attributions • closure • context •
Biases in Attribution: Kelly used the word “unhappy” to
describe the man in the photo. I plan to explain how
Kelly often falls victim to the “fundamental attribution error” in
her work which makes her unhappy. Thus, in
describing the man in the photo as “unhappy,” she is actually
using a “similarity bias.” These are both types of
“biases in attribution” as described on page 82 of the textbook.

III. Conclusion
First write a sentence (or more if needed) to “ease” your reader
out of the overall idea of this paper on your experiment
with the photograph. In other words, let your reader know you
are “closing” the paper.
In conclusion, I have written this paper to demonstrate three
main concepts of perception based on three
observations of one photograph.
A review of the thesis for the paper would go here. In your
paper next week, you may choose to use this thesis
15. or write your own. A possible thesis for this paper would be:
Through writing this paper, I have come to a better
understanding of how each one of us will have different
perceptions of just about anything. It really all depends on
things such as our background and even our
present state of mind.
Second, write one sentence for each main point that summarizes
the most important idea of that main point. This is not the
place to introduce new information.
Through explaining the process of perception, describing three
observers and their backgrounds and then
analyzing what they had to say about the photograph, I was able
to really see how the process of perception
works.
In the full paper next week, you will want to end with
something memorable.
Just like the opening, you want to try to be creative and
original.
So, be thinking about what you will put in the final paper next
16. week to give it a good ending.

Section 3. Perception Analysis Grid
This grid is not required for you to do. But you may find it
helpful to fill out as you collect your observers’ descriptive
words. It will help you keep the analysis organized as you fill
out main point 3 above and for when you write the full
17. paper next week.
DIRECTIONS: Place the descriptive terms you received from
your observers in the first column. Then check off the columns
(based on the different types of perception) that you think
influenced your observer to notice that aspect of the picture. Be
sure to watch the Perception Analysis Worksheet Demonstration
in the Week 4 Learning Resources to help you understand
how to fill out the worksheet. The basics are that each
“descriptive word” should have one item checked off in each
category
(selecting, organizing and interpreting). While more than one of
the terms in each category might fit the descriptive word
from your observers, choose the one term in each category that
BEST fits. So, you should end up with three terms checked
off for each “descriptive word” from your observers.

Conclusion
First write a sentence (or more if needed) to “ease” your reader
out of the overall idea of this paper on your experiment with the
photograph. In other words, let your reader know you are
“closing” the paper.
A review of the thesis for the paper would go here. In your
paper next week, you may choose to use this thesis
or write your own. A possible thesisfor this paper would be:
Through writing this paper, I have come to a better
understanding of how each one of us will have different
perceptions of just about anything. It really all depends on
things such as our background and even our present state of
44. mind.
Second, write one sentence for each main point that summarizes
the most important idea of that main point. This is not the place
to introduce new information.
In the full paper next week, you will want to end with
something memorable.
Just like the opening, you want to try to be creative and
original.
So, be thinking about what you will put in the final paper next
week to give it a good ending.

45. See below the Perception Analysis Grid for your total points
earned.
Section 3. Perception Analysis Grid
This grid is not required for you to do. But you may find it
helpful to fill out as you collect your observers’ descriptive
words. It will help you keep the analysis organized as you fill
out main point 3 above and for when you write the full paper
next week.
DIRECTIONS: Place the descriptive terms you received from
your observers in the first column. Then check off the columns
(based on the different types of perception) that you think
influenced your observer to notice that aspect of the picture. Be
sure to watch the Perception Analysis Worksheet Demonstration
in the Week 4 Learning Resources to help you understand how
to fill out the worksheet. The basics are that each “descriptive
word” should have one item checked off in each category
(selecting, organizing and interpreting). While more than one of
the terms in each category might fit the descriptive word from
your observers, choose the one term in each category that BEST
fits. So, you should end up with three terms checked off for
each “descriptive word” from your observers.
