POEM
Poem: On the Grasshopper

and Cricket

Poet: John Keats
Class: VIII [English]
The earth is full of poetry.
In a hot summer, birds hide
themselves.
Only the grasshopper sings in a hot
summer season.
He flies from hedge to hedge
When tired with fun of singing in
hot summer, he rests beneath
some pleasant weed.
The poetry of earth never stops.
In the frosty winter evening looks,
a shrill sound of cricket is heard.
To a drowsing person, the cricket’s
shrill cry appears to be a
grasshopper’s whir.
