Creative Haverhill has attracted new visitors and economic growth to downtown Haverhill through programs like their Pop-Up Shop and Shops@90Wash, which provide space for artists to sell their work. Large public art displays and a documentary have also drawn more people to the area. The director, David Zoffoli, has extensive experience in theater and pursued funding for arts in Haverhill. He has led Creative Haverhill's efforts to place art in empty storefronts and engage the community through pop-up shops and a mural.

The Virtual Arts in Our Communities Residency celebrates the arts of New York State. Our inaugural 2022 residency focuses on the arts in the Capital District region with an emphasis on the Empire State Plaza and the New York State Museum in Albany, N.Y. During the spring term, students can register for one of five courses related to the practice, performance, support, and creation of the arts. The courses use a blended model that combines online learning with 3 virtual meetings. At these virtual meetings, students will have the opportunity to meet with their instructor and classmates, interact with students in other courses, explore virtual exhibits of historical sites, public arts displays, museum collections, and performing arts spaces.

Creative Haverhill has had a positive impact upon the financial growth of
downtown Haverhill through the creation of a Pop-Up Shop program as well as
the establishment of the Shops@90Wash, which provides artists with a rent-free
space to sell their works at the holidays. This has attracted many new visitors to
downtown who have also dined at local restaurants and shopped at other retail
stores. With large public art displays like the Essex Gateway Mural and the new
video documentary Public and Private Passions, Creative Haverhill has successfully
drawn new visitors to this growing downtown area.
David Zoffoli, executive director of Creative Haverhill, has been active in the arts
throughout his career. Zoffoli has taught and directed theater with Northern
Essex Community College and also performed onstage with many local theater
companies. This background led Zoffoli to passionately pursue funding of the arts
in the city of Haverhill, his hometown. He was a leader in the Adams Grant
application, which brought $40,000 to fund arts in Haverhill. As director of
Creative Haverhillfor the past two years, Zoffoli has already made a large
difference downtown by bringing art to empty storefronts, engaging the
community with several pop-up mobile art shops and permanent art such as a
Gateway Mural located on Essex Street.
