2. Rio is having a pizza party for his friends. He is
planning to order 3 large pizzas, each pizza has
8 slices. There will be 12 people, including Rio
at the party. What is the ratio of pizza slices to
people?
A. 2:1
B. 24:8
C. 12:2
D. 3:8

4. How to solve,
The problem is asking for the number of pizza slices to people.
Looking at the pictures, there are a total of 24 slices and 12 people.
24:12 is not one of the choices, but it can be seen that there are
more pizza slices compared to people, so answers that have a
smaller first number compared to the second number can be
eliminated.
Choice d can be eliminated because it has a smaller first number
compared to the second number.
The picture shows a pizza followed by 4 people, in 3 rows.
That indicates one, 8 slice pizza for every 4 people.
There is no answer choice of 8:4 but the ratio may be reduced by 4
if you divide both sides by 4.
Once both sides were divided by 4 your answer will be 2:1, choice
a.
Check that by looking at a row of one 8-slice pizza and 4 people.
If each of the 4 boys has one slice of pizza in their row, there are 4
slices left.
That is enough for each boy to have another slice for a total of 2
slices each, 2:1 is the pizza slice to person ratio.
