Technology has this great way of making things faster. That means
we can handle more work. Unfortunately, that means we can handle
more work. With so much on our plates, it’s crucial to automate as
much of that work as possible.
With tightening labor markets, rising costs, and stiff competition, it’s more important than ever for
organizations to increase productivity. In other words, we need to automate as much as possible.

How much time do you spend on admin tasks per day? One recent poll found that
59 percent of HR admins said they spend at least three hours a day pushing paper.2

That’s talking about time. Now think about
the brain space it takes to accomplish these
routine tasks:

upcoming contract expiry dates
»» Keeping track of probationary end dates
and visa expiry dates
»» Notifying all stakeholders when a new hire is
about to start
»» Figuring out how long it takes an employee
or manager to complete a process
What if all of that were automated? By
automating HR tasks and processes, you gain
the insight and ability to evaluate, track, and
measure them. And, as they say, “What gets
measured gets managed.” This gives you the
tools to continually improve your productivity
in real ways.
McKinsey estimated in a 2017 study that
automation “could raise productivity growth
globally by 0.8 to 1.4 percent annually.”3
That productivity growth spills into more work,
and then that work is automated and spills over
into new work, and so on. If compound interest
is the eighth wonder of the world, perhaps
compound automation could be the ninth.

becomes outdated. And everyone knows inaccurate
data significantly impacts HR’s credibility.
And it’s not simply about accurate biographical
data, like home addresses and pay information.
Future-forward companies are entering
employee information using machine learning
and automation to help develop better-informed
hiring decisions, succession planning, and
management initiatives.4
Employee visibility also helps employees
understand the bigger mission. There’s no
substitute for the employee having visibility into
key data elements. When you put the values and
strategy behind the mission into their hands,
they’ll make better decisions in the future.
Think about it this way: The more that people
use your software, the more they share their
information, and as a result, the more up-to-date
your information becomes. In other words, easy-
to-use software equals higher user adoption,
which equals improved data accuracy.

EXAMPLE WORKFLOWS
Salary Change Request
Managers can submit a
change request to the next-
level manager, HR, or both for
approval. This could be a change
to salary, pay grade level, job
classification, position, salary
band, or to any of many more
pay-related categories.
Employee Transfer
Managers initiate a change
request, which can flow to the
next-level manager, the new
manager, and to HR for approval.
This can include a change to a
job title, department, location,
business unit, and other role-
related variables.
Time-off Requests
An employee can view their
vacation entitlement and days
available and initiate requests
for time off. After the change is
approved, it’s populated back to
the employee record.
Exit Interview
Generate an automated
questionnaire that’s delivered
to employees in an electronic
format for them to complete
and return to HR — with no
intervention required by HR or
the employee’s manager.
Hubbubhr workflow
For all HR workflows, data is pulled in from HubbubHR so that the requester can see and update
current data, with changes submitted through HubbubHR workflow, and — upon approval — the
changes are updated to the record in the HubbubHR platform.

  • 3. Technology has this great way of making things faster. That means we can handle more work. Unfortunately, that means we can handle more work. With so much on our plates, it’s crucial to automate as much of that work as possible. With tightening labor markets, rising costs, and stiff competition, it’s more important than ever for organizations to increase productivity. In other words, we need to automate as much as possible. Companies haven’t applied the right technology in the right places. They haven’t automated tasks to free up their employees to work on mission-critical tasks. One recent poll found that 59 percent of HR admins said they spend at least three hours a day pushing paper.2 That’s an outrageous amount of lost productivity. Imagine if you could automate all that. Imagine if you could recover three or four hours of your day and allocate that time to your primary responsibilities. Now think about the brain space it takes to accomplish these routine tasks: »» Looking up or keeping up to date on upcoming contract expiry dates »» Keeping track of probationary end dates and visa expiry dates »» Notifying all stakeholders when a new hire is about to start »» Figuring out how long it takes an employee or manager to complete a process What if all of that were automated? By automating HR tasks and processes, you gain the insight and ability to evaluate, track, and measure them. And, as they say, “What gets measured gets managed.” This gives you the tools to continually improve your productivity in real ways. McKinsey estimated in a 2017 study that automation “could raise productivity growth globally by 0.8 to 1.4 percent annually.”3 That productivity growth spills into more work, and then that work is automated and spills over into new work, and so on. Future-forward companies are entering employee information using machine learning and automation to help develop better-informed hiring decisions, succession planning, and management initiatives.4 Employee visibility also helps employees understand the bigger mission. There’s no substitute for the employee having visibility into key data elements. When you put the values and strategy behind the mission into their hands, they’ll make better decisions in the future. This could be a change to salary, pay grade level, job classification, position, salary band, or to any of many more pay-related categories. Employee Transfer Managers initiate a change request, which can flow to the next-level manager, the new manager, and to HR for approval. This can include a change to a job title, department, location, business unit, and other role- related variables. Time-off Requests An employee can view their vacation entitlement and days available and initiate requests for time off. After the change is approved, it’s populated back to the employee record. Exit Interview Generate an automated questionnaire that’s delivered to employees in an electronic format for them to complete and return to HR — with no intervention required by HR or the employee’s manager.
